With more than 11,000 inland lakes and 3,000 miles of Great Lakes shoreline, Michigan offers boaters, paddlers and anyone wanting to wet a line nearly infinite number of opportunities to make on-water memories that will last a lifetime.

Your boater registration fees are used to maintain and upgrade infrastructure at more than 1,300 boating access sites and 83 harbors along the Great Lakes. Yet, this only covers a fraction of the actual funding needed to keep Michigan’s waterways infrastructure updated and serving the widest population of boaters. From water trail markers and accessible canoe/kayak launches to modern amenities, improved electrical and safe docks for all water levels, there is much we can do to enhance Michigan’s world-class boating opportunities.
