Jewish Federation Of Omaha Logo

The Jewish Federation of Omaha (JFO) is building a new community agency and would appreciate your input to inform the process. This agency will be a “CRC”, Community Relations Council. CRCs advocate for the rights and values of the individual and collective, here and abroad. CRCs implement a coordinated program of advocacy, education, civil rights and social justice for the Jewish community.

The CRC will work within the Jewish and broader communities in the Omaha metro area to enhance cooperation with other religious, racial, ethnic and civic groups.  We aim to foster a just, democratic and pluralistic society and to promote the security of Israel and Jews everywhere.  Guided by Jewish values, the CRC advocates, educates, collaborates and mobilizes on issues important to the Jewish community.

Your responses are anonymous and will be essential to the JFO’s decision-making.  The data that we gather will inform our programming plans for the community.

We truly appreciate your insight and your thoughtfulness. This survey will take around 10 minutes to complete and will be open until 11:59 PM on May 27, 2022. Thank you!

The new CRC will be using data collected about your interests to design relevant and impactful programming.  As you consider each section, please use this shared language:

  • Anti-bias education is an approach to teaching and learning designed to increase understanding of differences and their value to a respectful and civil society and to actively challenge bias, stereotyping and all forms of discrimination in schools and communities.

  • Anti-racism is a process of actively identifying and opposing racism. The goal of anti-racism is to challenge racism and actively change the policies, behaviors, and beliefs that perpetuate racist ideas and actions.

  • The pipeline to prison refers to school discipline policies (e.g., zero tolerance) and practices that remove students from learning opportunities (e.g., out of school suspension) and push students out of school (e.g., expulsion, school-based arrest) and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems increasingly for minor offenses and non-violent behavior such as smoking cigarettes, coming to school out of uniform or using a cell phone. Research and data have indicated that racial/ethnic minorities and students with disabilities are disproportionately affected by such policies and practices.
