The Clifford and Charlotte Whitfield were both educators for much of their career, with Cliff as professor for Ferris' Computer Information Systems program and Char as a teaching assistant at Chippewa Hills High School. Char is establishing this scholarship endowment to provide opportunity to future students who desire a career in Computer Information Systems and to honor the memory and the impact her husband Cliff had on so many during his 20-year tenure at Ferris State University.
The recipient must be a full-time student with a 2.5 GPA majoring Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related programs at Ferris State University that include Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Pre-Science, Pre-Engineering, Automotive Engineering Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, HVACR Engineering Technology, Computer Networks and Systems, Computer Information Systems, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Product Design Engineering Technology, Surveying Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Plastics Engineering Technology, and Welding Engineering Technology with preference for students majoring Computer Information Systems. The recipient must have a minimum 2.5 GPA at the time of application. Financial need is required and preference given to students who are graduates of Chippewa Hills School District in Remus, Michigan.
