Scholarships and Endowments


To be considered for this competitive scholarship a student must be the son or daughter, grandchild or sibling of a Ferris Alumni(us). The recipient must have a 2.75 GPA, have not received this scholarship award previously, have successfully completed a minimum of two full-time semesters with a minimum of 45 hours towards a bachelor's or master's degree, or 15 hours towards an associate's degree at time of selection.  Preference will be given to students in their final year at FSU.

This scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student on the Big Rapids main campus who has completed two semesters. Financial need and have a minimum 3.25 GPA.

This scholarship shall be awarded based on financial need.

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate with a minimum 3.25 GPA, with financial need. The recipient demonstrate multiple situations in which they have overcome obstacles related to social, economic diversity or gender status. 

The scholarship shall be governed according to the following criteria:

  1. Financial need is required. Financial need is determined by the completion of the Federal Application for Student Aid. (F AFSA)
  2. The recipient shall be a student in good standing in any program.
  3. The recipient shall be a student with qualifying veteran status, as certified by the Veteran Certifying Official within the office of Admissions and Records.

This scholarship is awarded to a full-time international student who has demonstrated interest in intercultural engagement. The student must be in good academic standing and financial need is not required.

The scholarship shall be governed according to the following criteria:

  1. The recipient must be a full-time student.
  2. The recipient must have a minimum GPA at the time of application.
  3. Financial need is required.*
  4. Recipients will be part of the Ferris Youth Initiative program.
  5. Recipients of the scholarship shall be known as Johnson Scholars.

The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time graduate student who is eligible for enrollment in the first year of the professional optometric curriculum of the Michigan College of Optometry. Preference shall be given to students who are Michigan residents and have a minimum 3.2 GPA at the time of application. Financial need shall be a secondary criterion.

This scholarship will be awarded to deserving students in either the Professional Tennis Management Program or members of the Ferris Men's and Women's Tennis Teams. 

The scholarship shall be governed according to the following criteria:

  1. Financial need is required. Financial need is determined by the completion of the Federal Application for Student Aid. (FAFSA)
  2. The recipient shall be a first-generation student in good standing in any program.

The endowment spending shall be governed according to the following criteria:

  1. Funding shall be used to enhance the Men's Basketball program at Ferris State University.

The distribution of endowment funding shall be determined by the University and includes the following guidelines:

  1. The amount of total annual spending shall be determined based upon the fund's available spendable dollars.
  2. Fund disbursements shall be managed by the Men's Basketball Head Coach and the Athletics Director to directly benefit the Men's Basketball Program at Ferris State University.

The scholarship shall be governed according to the following criteria:

a.  Financial need is required. Financial need is determined by the completion of the Federal Application for Student Aid. (F AFSA)
b.  The recipient shall be a full-time student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher at the time of application.
c.  First preference shall be given to student members of the Phi Zeta Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity registered student organization at Ferris State University. Second preference shall be given to students from diverse cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds, with unique talents, interests, and life experiences.

Opportunity Ferris Cares Scholarships provide emergency funding for  students who have experienced a family or financial crisis and have exhausted all other means of aid. Funds may be used to assist in buying books, program supplies, tools, testing fees, internships, etc. Making a gift to the Opportunity Ferris Cares Scholarship gives Ferris State University students the opportunity to continue their education and to stay on their path for success.

The scholarship shall be known as the "William ‘Bill’ Scott Roh Superintendent Scholarship Endowment."  The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in the Construction Management Program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75. Preference shall be given to students who seek a career in field supervision.

The recipient must be a full-time student. The recipient must have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Financial need is not required. Students who are accepted and enrolled in the Ferris State University College of Pharmacy.

The scholarship shall be governed according to the following criteria:
a. Financial need is required. Financial need is determined by the completion of the Federal Application for Student Aid. (FAFSA)
b. The recipient shall be a student in good standing in the Television and Digital Media Production program.
c. The recipient shall have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher at the time of application.
