Built in 1929 and open until 1995, the Memorial Building was Hartwick Pines State Park’s first Visitor Center. When Karen Hartwick donated the land for the park in 1927, she wanted a building dedicated to her husband’s memory. Karen’s husband, Edward Hartwick, was a Grayling native and local lumberman. He passed away in 1918 while serving in France during WWI.
Now it’s time to “Look Back, and Give Forward." Please share your favorite memories of the Memorial Building and Hartwick Pines State Park as well as ideas for the future!
