I have been doing mission with the Diocese of Joliet’s Partnership in Mission in Sucre, Bolivia for ten years. In 2013 we began our partnership with Water With Blessings to bring clean water to those who are medical team had been seeing in clinic and surgery, thereby hoping to reduce the number of people needing medical assistance. Being with the mothers and their children during our training sessions has been a privilege and blessing for me, but in 2017, two women from the previous year asked me if I would like to come to their homes to see their filter systems. I was surprised and honored to be invited into their homes. In both homes the dirt floor room that we entered had no furniture and very little of anything else except their filter systems, one sitting on a chair and the other on a large barrel. They proudly demonstrated them for me. In another community, I have seen Justina each year since her training because she returns to tell the other women what a blessing the filter has been for her. She always has a big smile and hug for me. I get the hugs but none of this would be possible without our water women sponsors who have provided sponsorship for almost 500 women who are providing clean water for their families and their neighbor’s families. There are many small communities in the rural zone outside of Sucre that are still in need of clean water. Many of these people live a distance from a medical clinic so having clean water to drink would eliminate their need to walk or travel by bus a distance to a clinic. The mothers of Sucre, Bolivia and I will appreciate any help that you can give to provide them with clean water and improved health.
