Thank you for supporting our Poultry Embryology and Incubation Project for our Wiregrass 4-H students. We began this year’s school project in February and will continue through May 2019 with a dozen schools participating. Our fundraising goal is to purchase a lock-out buzzer system for the Wiregrass 4-H Embryology Bowl competition. The cost is $250. This system will be used for practices as well as the competition. Last year was our pilot year where we completed the project in 11 schools with over 500 students. Student age divisions included 22 Cloverbuds, 374 Juniors & Intermediates, and 129 Seniors. The school project required meeting with classes for 5 continuous weeks of lessons concentrating on the life cycle, candling, hatch and brooding. An optional 6th week focused on dissecting unhatched eggs and comparing them to the embryo development chart provided by Auburn University Poultry Science and Extension Specialists.
