Ten farm animal sanctuaries—all competing to see which org can raise the most money. I'd love your support in helping LBS bring home the gold. The sanctuary currently cares for over 170 rescued farm animals. Abused, neglected or abandoned—the sanctuary has opened their doors and rehabilitated so many in need. What you may not know: there are no federal laws that protect farm animals from abuse. While each state has their own animal welfare laws, those laws only protect companion animals (dogs and cats). Farm animals are exempt from any and all protection. Beaten, starved, mutilated, cruelly slaughtered—the standard, legal treatment of farm animals on factory farms is unimaginable. The work of farm animal sanctuaries, like LBS, is an incredibly important step toward bridging the gap between companion and farm animals. Because all have the ability to experience pain and love.
