In Connecticut, 1 in 4 households have earnings above the Federal Poverty Level but below a basic cost-of-living threshold. Despite working hard, these households struggle to make ends meet. Combined, ALICE and Poverty households comprise 38% of all households in the state, revealing that more than 1 in 3 Connecticut households is experiencing financial hardship. Through our work in Education, Financial Stability, Health, Basic Needs and 2-1-1, Connecticut United Ways and our many community partners are helping ALICE to become self-sufficient and achieve financial independence.
