Anne Stone

Anne Stone In April of 2022, Anne went to the doctor because she'd been experiencing shortness of breath. Her regular physician was concerned that it was a pulmonary embolism; instead, after several days in the hospital and a variety of tests, we learned it was idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. "Idiopathic" means they're unable to pinpoint a cause. "Pulmonary fibrosis" means that it's a permanent, progressive scarring of her lungs. Anne tried two different experimental medications intended to stop the progression of her disease, but unfortunately it continued to advance. At the end of June 2023, her doctor indicated that it was time to begin hospice. On October 1, 2023 she passed away. Anne was an incredible mother, always advocating for her children and grandchildren, as well as a beloved sister and friend. She is deeply loved and missed. Please consider donating to help find a cure for this disease, so that no other families have to suffer through this unfortunate journey in the future. All proceeds go towards: • Finding effective treatments and a cure for pulmonary fibrosis• Advocating for the pulmonary fibrosis community • Promoting disease awareness • Providing a compassionate environment for patients and their families Please donate and together we can help those living with pulmonary fibrosis and the families of those we have lost. Anthony "Tony" Cafoncelli

Anthony "Tony" Cafoncelli Doctor Antonio Romulo Cafoncelli died on January 26, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in 1938 to Nelida and Romulo Cafoncelli in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Antonio, known to friends and family as “Tony”, graduated from the Universidad de Buenos Aires Medical School at the age of 21 and worked in various hospitals until moving to Mar del Plata where he did his residency at the Community Hospital where made life-long friends whom he kept in touch with until recently. He had the fondest memories of his residency years riding around the coastal town of Mar del Plata on his motorcycle. He then moved back to Buenos Aires to work at Hospital Peña prior to immigrating to the US. In December 1970, Tony landed in Philadelphia, PA. He arrived wearing a light linen suit (after all it was summer in Argentina!). Upon his arrival in Philadelphia, he was warmly welcomed to his residency at the University of Pennsylvania by C. Everett Koop, who later served as the 13th Surgeon General of the United States. To further hone his specialty, Tony practiced in Wilmington, DE, Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC (as Chief Resident), and Chicago, IL. Upon becoming Board Certified in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Tony settled in Charleston, WV in 1980 where he spent the next twenty five years as a driving force behind Thoracic and Cardiovascular Associates, Inc, one of the leading surgical practices in the Mid-Atlantic region at the time. Upon his retirement, Tony completed his Master’s degree in Public Health at WVU. Shortly after, he and his wife, Teresa, relocated to Washington, DC where he interned at the World Health Organization. In addition, Tony taught an epigenetics course at American University’s OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) program. Tony was the definition of a life-long learner. Tony was passionate about his fine rugs, wine, travel, Argentine football, and his family. He had a deep appreciation for and knowledge of Persian & Oriental rugs and would enthusiastically launch into conversations about their intricate craftsmanship. He was a wine connoisseur who loved his Malbecs. He traveled the world with Teresa visiting the wine regions of France, Italy, Spain and Portugal (California snuck in there too!). Their love of travel was infectious and they visited over 30 countries across 5 different continents. In December, Tony saw his beloved Albiceleste win the World Cup for a 3rd time in history. Above all, Tony was devoted to his global network of friends and family. Not a day went by when he did not receive or make a long-distance phone call to tell a funny story or share a friendly rant. We all have countless memories of his animated humor, boisterous laugh and wide-ranging opinions (which he was always happy to share). Although Tony became a doctor at a young age, his most cherished titles were Husband, Father and especially Nono. The children miss Nono’s impish personality, silly jokes and their wide-ranging conversations on numerous topics. Nono will forever be in their hearts and part of who they are. Tony is survived by his wife, Teresa Guzman, his daughter, Anna Cafoncelli and her husband, Joseph Nassif, Teresa’s daughters, Silvia Lucero and Monica Lucero, his most beloved grandchildren, Nícola and Luca Villarino, and Monica’s husband José Villarino. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Tony Cafoncelli using the link at the top of this page. Donations in the name of Anthony "Tony" Cafoncelli, will go towards: • Finding effective treatments and a cure for pulmonary fibrosis• Advocating for the pulmonary fibrosis community • Promoting disease awareness • Providing a compassionate environment for patients and their families Together we can help those living with pulmonary fibrosis and the families of those we have lost. All donations are tax-deductible and every dollar raised goes to help support the mission of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Feel free to forward this page or post this on your Facebook and Twitter pages. The loss of Tony Cafoncelli has been devastating to all of us. Art Prouty

Art Prouty Arthur ”Art” Edward Prouty was born in Astoria, Oregon to Gordon and Edwina Prouty, growing up in various locations throughout the Willamette Valley from Carlton to Eugene. After attending Monroe High School, he promptly joined the US Navy serving aboard the USS Coral Sea aircraft carrier. In 1967, Art married the love of his life, Audrey (Fields). He worked in the wood products industry for 30 years, then in real estate for another 20 years. Alongside his wife of 51 years, he raised 4 children who blessed him richly with 10 grandchildren. Family was everything to Art. He was so proud of his family and made sure everyone he came across knew it. He always lived life to the fullest, enjoying every moment and every person who crossed his path. You could say Art never knew a stranger. His motto was, “Love God, love people, be happy,” and he took that to heart. Every life he touched was impacted in a positive way. Even those who had only met him once never forgot him. His laughter was contagious, his cheerfulness irresistible, his presence unforgettable. On August 15, 2015, Art was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). As difficult as this news was to hear, Art would not let this get him down. He continued to live each day with enthusiasm, enjoying road trips to Montana, riding four wheelers with his kids, tending his garden, and dancing his heart out, just as long as his body would allow him. On May 14, 2018, his long battle with IPF came to an end. Art passed away at Good Samaritan hospital in Corvallis, Oregon, surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. Even in those final days, his positive nature continued to touch those around him, including the doctors, nurses, and medical staff who cared for him. He always put a smile on his face and kept a cheerful spirit. During the extent of his illness, Art had an amazing care team including his lung specialist, Dr. Susan Cho, and primary care physician, Dr. Michael Sherman. Their patient attentiveness to his needs, even if it meant listening to lengthy stories about his children and grandchildren, did not go unnoticed. We are truly grateful for such compassionate care. Art will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and so many others whose lives he touched. Please consider donating and together we can help others living with pulmonary fibrosis and the families of those we have lost. All donations are tax-deductible and every dollar raised goes to help support the mission of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. All proceeds go towards: • Finding effective treatments and a cure for pulmonary fibrosis• Advocating for the pulmonary fibrosis community• Promoting disease awareness• Providing a compassionate environment for patients and their families The loss of a loved one is devastating. Arthur L. Rosa, Sr.

In Loving Memory of, Arthur L. Rosa, Sr. 1936-2020 A devoted husband, loving father, caring grandfather, and amazing friend to all. You will be missed immensely. Heaven has gained one heck on an Angel and we know you are up there making jokes, fishing, boating, playing sports, visiting with our dear departed, and most of all watching down over us all. Arthur was first diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2007. His doctors gave him a 3-5 year life expectancy from that point. Just like the strong and determined person he was, he fought and stayed with us on this Earth for another 13 years. During those years, lots of quality family time was taken advantage of, more wisdom and advice was passed on, many sports games were viewed, and countless hours were spent laughing, joking, and making memories. However, not all of this time was happy. As this terrible disease continued to run its course with currently no cure known, it began to wear on Arthur's health; more specifically his lungs. In sparing the sorrowful and painful details, Arthur was able to spend his last months on this Earth in his own home on Hospice surrounded by those he loved most. He passed peacefully and comfortably, with family by his side. Now, we celebrate a truly beautiful man who lived and loved well. Rest In Peace Arthur L. Rosa, Sr. Family and friends, please donate in the name of Arthur L. Rosa, Sr. , so that a cure and/or treatments to prolong life for sufferers of this terrible disease can be found.
