Ben Rogers

Ben Rogers Ben was born on October 23, 1953 and married his soulmate Mary in 1974. He was a family man and raised four children together with his wife in the country nestled among hundreds of pine trees. He was surrounded by eight busy grandchildren ranging in ages from 24 to 7 years old with grandbaby #9 on the way. Ben was a produce manager for 40 years. Many people will remember his smiling face in the Produce Department at Eagle Foods Supermarket where he was the manager for 33 years, three months and three days. After Eagles closed, he finished out his career at Jewel-Osco.Ben touched many lives and was a loyal friend. He had strong family values, which he imparted to his children and grandchildren. During his lifetime he shared his love of music, movies, do-it-yourself projects, and, of course, the Iowa Hawkeyes. In 2015, Dad shared with his family that he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. A disabling disease without a known cure and few treatment options. After much consideration, declining health and prayer, he decided in October 2017 to be listed for new lungs. He was selected fairly quickly and on November, 11, 2017 he underwent a successful single lung transplant on his right side. Dad gained an extra 2 years and 3 months of life with the incredible gift of his new lung. It was not until late January of 2020, that Dad became ill and was diagnosed with Pneumonia, RSV and ultimately Pulmonary Aspergillosis. He was hospitalized on two separate occassions and ultimately, lost his battle on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. Our Dad wanted to leave an impact and always looked for ways to help others. He felt strongly about education and was eager to always figure things out. Our hope is that with generous contributions to PFF, his legacy can help the lives of others that are affected by this disease and ultimately help to find a cure. Please donate in the name of Ben Rogers, so that a cure and/or treatments to prolong life for sufferers of this terrible disease can be found: All proceeds go towards: • Finding effective treatments and a cure for pulmonary fibrosis• Advocating for the pulmonary fibrosis community • Promoting disease awareness • Providing a compassionate environment for patients and their families Please donate and together we can help those living with pulmonary fibrosis and the families of those we have lost. Beth Hunley

Beth Hunley Beth Hunley passed away in peace on Friday February 24th, 2023. Beth was an inspiration to all, whether it was to her family, friends, or perfect strangers who followed along her lung transplant journey. After receiving her pulmonary fibrosis diagnosis in 2014 she started down the long road of researching hospitals and then waiting for a bilateral lung transplant. She began her journey with the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and was on their list for 4 years and 1 dry run call until she moved programs to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She received a set of lungs on November 26th, 2019 after waiting only 4 months. Beth then spent 75 days in the hospital recovering from the operation. It was a grueling fight but she fought to honor the donor and to get home to her family whom she loved more than anything. She was extremely active spreading the word about PF and advocating for everyone to become a donor. From interviewing fellow transplant recipients and posting their stories to her Lung Journey Facebook page, to pushing her hometown paper to publish articles every April to spread awareness about the importance of organ donation– she was not the type to sit it out and not speak up about what she found important. Beth had just over 3 blessed years with her new lungs, some high highs and low lows, but she always kept her smile and unending optimism. A beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, and lung transplant warrior; Beth will be missed by many but her legacy will outlast us all. Her family asks that you honor her name with a donation to this foundation that she so loved. Please donate in the name of Beth Hunley, so that a cure and/or treatments to prolong life for sufferers of this terrible disease can be found. Beverly would have celebrated her 90th birthday on May 27. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener, serving as the president of the local garden club. She was active in the Bloomfield Congregational Church, volunteered with the Hartford Hospital Auxiliary, worked at a local art gallery, and turned her love of travel into a job as a travel agent. She and her husband retired to Gilford, NH, where they lived on Lake Winnipesaukee for 15 years. They enjoyed winters in Naples, FL, where Beverly tutored and exhibited her porcelain painting. The couple also lived in Avon, Chester, and Farmington, CT prior to moving to Simsbury. Beverly is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Richard C. Bharat Modi Please donate in the loving memory of Bharat Modi, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend. He lived an incredibly full life: traveling, playing sports with his friends and teaching them to his grandkids, and walking on the beach with his wife all the way into his seventies. We created this donation as he passed from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a condition which is currently incurable and untreatable. We hope that PFF's research can find a cure or treatment to support people suffering from this disease. “Hope is like a bird that senses the dawn and carefully starts to sing while it is still dark."
