Edward C Caye JR Edward Caye Jr. was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2022. This is an incurable condition. When he received this diagnosis, his response was, "This is Bull ****!" He never gave up and tried anything the doctors suggested and went anywhere there was a doctor willing to help. His disease progressed very rapidly, which required him to be on oxygen 24 hours a day. He passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023, with his wife Gloria of 51 years, his two children Tammy and Eddie by his bedside. He was a beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, brother nephew, uncle and friend. Please consider donating to the research of this disease so no one must go through what our family went through. Colonel Nasiruddin (Nasir) Rana, U.S. Air Force Reserve (Retired), M.D., M.P.H., age 76, of Oak Brook, Illinois, passed away on March 16, 2023, in the presence of loving family. Born May 10, 1946 in Jalandhar, British India, the son of Chirag Din and Fazal Begum, Nasir attended the King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cook County Hospital. He further completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's, where he later served on the faculty. A founding partner of the Reproductive Medicine Institute, over his 50-year career, Nasir loved his role as a physician entrusted with helping families navigate the challenges of infertility and further trained multiple generations of physicians and other healthcare professionals in the U.S. and abroad. Nasir served for nearly three decades in the United States Air Force Reserve, with a rating of Chief Flight Surgeon, and served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He was a founding member of the Pakistan Physicians Society and volunteered his time to several professional and community organizations. A devoted family man, he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Fauzia Ahmad; children Fuad (Sabah) and Madeeha (Dieter); two grandchildren, Sabine and Rizwan; and extended family. He was buried in Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Darien, Illinois, on March 18, 2023, with military honors. A celebration of Nasir's life will take place a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Virginia Ellen Ruhl was a Mother to eight, a Grandmother (Grammy) to four, and a Great-Grandmother to two. She was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, Eucharistic Minister, Lector, bowler, Red Hat Club member, and needle-point enthusiast. On February the 25th of 2023, she passed peacefully listening to her favorite music with most of her family by her side. Emma Bagwell Hyde June 7, 1948 - April 22, 2023 Emma Bagwell Hyde’s heart of gold came to a final rest on Saturday, April 22, 2023, bringing her battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) to a conclusion. While the little-known, uncurable lung disease was mighty, Emma’s determination (with a touch of stubbornness) allowed her to spend several years more than doctors predicted with her husband and love of her life for the past 50 years – Fred Hyde. She also was able to witness both her children marry their loves during that time – with Christie Hyde DeNave sharing vows with husband Joe on the beach near her home in Florida in 2015 and F. Michael Hyde pledging his love to wife Gina a year later in Spartanburg. But her true strength and determination to fight IPF was drawn from her granddaughters – 5-year-old Lydia Hyde and 14-year-old Emily DeNave – whom she loved, supported, and doted upon to the very end. Emma strongly encouraged those who wanted recognize her passing to not send flowers or other items, but instead to make a donation to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation with hopes of someday finding a cure for this dreadful disease that took her from us.
