Kerry Carlee Kerry struggled for many years with IPF. He had a double lung transplant in 2018. Recovery was difficult for Kerry and he was never fully well but he pushed himself every day as he wanted so much to live. His determination gave him nearly five more years - time in which he got to see his children continue to succeed at their various endeavors and to meet the two grandchildren born after the transplant. Early diagnosis might have helped but his IPF was end stage before his wonderful doctor, Dr. Caesar Agagan, helped figure out the problem. Kerry lost his battle on July 7, 2023, but was so very grateful for the extra time his transplant gave us. Our family is so shattered by his passing- but you can help us honor the memory of this brave, compassionate and courageous man and help others suffering from this disease with your contribution. Jerome “Jerry” LaSee On the afternoon of Sunday, March 19th 2017, with the sun shining down and the first signs of spring in the air, Jerry LaSee passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family. He put up a short and valiant fight, but ultimately lost to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis just a few months after his 66th birthday. An engineer to the end, Jerry used his head, his heart, and his hands to craft us a good life and we will miss him dearly. Mike Fournier November 20, 1960 - July 18, 2023 Michael "Mike" Thomas Fournier was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and son. Mike, along with his wife, owned and operated SMA Technologies, a precision spindle repair business in Brighton, Michigan for over 24 years. Mike was an inventor and a pioneer in the machine repair industry, respected by professional colleagues and clients around the world. In June 2023, Mike was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a subset of interstitial lung disease (ILD). Four weeks after of being diagnosed with ILD, Mike had a sudden, acute attack that took his life within a week. Knowing Mike's generous and fighting spirit, his wish would be to promote awareness to this disease, in the hopes of progressing research and treatments for ILD in order to help others. In loving memory of Jose Oscar Lopez Lacayo, MD My dad was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2019. His disease went from occasional bouts of dry cough to intermittent dyspnea. In 2022, he started requiring a portable oxygen concentrator for traveling, and shortly after, he became oxygen dependent. He fought hard against this disease as much as current medications allowed. He lost the battle against IPF on July 23rd, 2023, at eighty years of age. As family members, we recognize how devastating this disease can be for patients and relatives, especially when a lung transplant is not an option. Bob Gebing, age 75, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on August 1, 2023 in Fort Myers, Florida after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Valerie was an extraordinary sister, friend, wife, mom and grandmother. She was a remarkable woman who will never be forgotten and loved forever by those listed here and so many more. Ronald William Gould (6/18/1938-9/01/2023) Ron Gould was a man with a huge, generous heart. He proudly served his country as a Marine for 21 years. He raised his family, became a foster parent to numerous children, and then adopted and raised 2 more children. He believed with his whole heart of helping others. In his last years of life, Pulmonary Fibrosis limited his ability to do much activity that he enjoyed but he was always still protecting and giving to those around him.
