Hello friends and family! This winter, I have been accepted to join a high school service trip to New Orleans. I have the opportunity to accompany a group of my peers to the city, where we will spend a week building houses and relationships with members of the community. Although many years have gone by and other tragedies have struck, the impact of Hurricane Katrina is still present and many are still recovering. On this trip, I will spend the majority of the day doing construction work on the house with my team to help community members who have lost their homes to Katrina’s flooding. Besides working on the house, I will also get to learn about the culture and history of New Orleans. I will need to raise $150 as the fee to participate in this amazing learning experience.
