Playing two different collegiate sports demands us to fundraise on behalf of both programs. Volleyball & Women's Basketball = ($475) Get to Know Malia Zornoza: 1. Why Did You Decide to Play Sports at the Collegiate Level? I play basketball because it is my favorite sport. I want to continue after high school and get the chance to play with my former opponents. I play volleyball too. I enjoy playing volleyball so I think I should grab the opportunity and play at the collegiate level. 2. What is Your Proudest Athletic Accomplishment Since You Began Playing Sports? The proudest accomplishment thus far recently happened during my last high school season: I am the first and only female basketball player to reach 1,000 career points at Fremont. In the same season, I received the Golden Eagle Award (Most Outstanding Student-Athlete at Fremont). 3. Who First Introduced You to Basketball? Daryl Wetzel was my third-grade coach and made me fall in love with the sport. 4. Why do You Love Gallaudet? It is the only college in the world where I can play with Deaf teammates. 5. What is Your Favorite Quote? "Life is short, but it is the longest thing you'll ever do." Grab all of the opportunities that you can. Go Bison! -Malia Zornoza

Dear Bison Supporter: Thank you for visiting my page! I represent Gallaudet University Athletics competing in both basketball and soccer. Playing two different collegiate sports demands us to fundraise on behalf of both programs. Women's Soccer & Women's Basketball = ($450) Get to Know Emelia Beldon: 1. Why Did You Decide to Play Sports at the Collegiate Level? I decided to play sports at the collegiate level because growing up, my favorite thing to do was play sports and be active. I can’t really imagine life without sports so it was no surprise that I was going to play. 2. Who is Your Favorite Athlete? Why? My favorite athlete would be Kobe Bryant. He was my inspiration as an athlete. When I was growing up and becoming the athlete I am today, I’ve always read stories and articles about how much dedication and commitment Kobe has in the gym. These stories were what aspired me to be the kind of athlete I strived to be. Oh, and he was also one of the greatest to play for the LA Lakers and the NBA. Smile! 3. Who First Introduced You to Basketball? My dad for sure, he was the one who got me into sports and I thankfully I have my family's unconditional support on the field, on the court, and in the classroom. 4. What Are Your Aspirations After Graduating from Gallaudet University? I am still unsure, but I definitely want to work any one of the mathematical, technical, or the data fields. 5. What is Your Hidden Talent? I can solve the rubix cube! 6. If You Could Be Anywhere in the World, Where Would You Be? Why? Out of the United States, hopefully somewhere in South America where there are beaches everywhere. I love beaches and I have a traveling bug! Go Bison! -Emelia Beldon

Dear Bison Supporter: Thank you for visiting my page! I represent Gallaudet University Athletics competing in basketball. Playing collegiate sports demands us to fundraise on behalf of our athletic teams. Women's Basketball =$300 Get to Know Serenity Fry: 1. What Animal Best Represents You? Why? An Octopus best represents me because I have long fingers and my body is very flexible! 2. Who is Your Favorite Athlete? Why? I have three favorite athletes: my dad, mom, and uncle. They all played sports in high school, Deaflympics, and college. So they have impacted and have kept me motivated in life through sports. 3. Who First Introduced You to Basketball? My mom, dad, and uncle introduced me to basketball when I was younger. 4. If You Could Be Anywhere in the World, Where Would You Be? Why?Rome, Italy because I like ancient history. 5. What is Your Favorite Quote? Philippians 4:13 - I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me. 6. Why do You Love Gallaudet? I love Gallaudet because of the accessible communication between peers, coaches, and educators. In my freshman year of high school at a mainstream school, I played basketball without any equal access to communication between my teammates and coaches. That was very hard for me because I was never sure of any feedback on my game. When I moved to CSDR and played basketball from my sophomore year, I had language access which allowed me to improve on my fundamentals. I look forward to doing the same at Gallaudet! Go Bison! -Serenity Fry
