The purpose of this fundraiser is to honor our son, Dave Engle, who recently passed away. Dave was always an advocate for the disabled and he often volunteered at Special Olympic Events in Maryland, as a student at Virginia Tech, and as a volunteer in Phoenix. Pictured above is Dave with his cousin Nathan who was a Special Olympics Softball Player in Maryland. Please help keep his influence a lasting legacy by considering donating to this wonderful organization.

Hi, my name is Ruby Erstein. For my Bat Mitzvah project I chose to raise money for the Special Olympics. The Special Olympics is the largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. Their goal is to help people with disabilities find joy and become more confident in their lives and on the field. I have always had a special connection with sports, especially soccer which is my favorite sport. Welcome to our team page: UWSP Pointers for Special Olympics! Hello! Thank you for visiting our page! For over 9.5 years, NCAA Division III has nurtured a partnership with Special Olympics that we hold dear to our hearts. UWSP's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has created a team for the 2021 Polar Plunge: Chillin' at Home. While we can't jump into icy waters this year at the actual Polar Plunge, we're making our own fun at home and still showing the athletes of Special Olympics Wisconsin that they have our support! After our fundraising is complete, we will be compiling a video of representatives from our athletic teams participating in creative ways to take the plunge (taking an ice bath, dropping a bucket of ice water on ourselves while performing our favorite TikTok dance, making swimsuit snow angels, having a winter water balloon fight, etc.) that will be shared with our family, friends, and supporters. Special Olympics athletes not only break down barriers to build communities of inclusion, but they spread light wherever they go, and they inspire us to be the best versions of ourselves. We are very grateful and blessed to have a partnership with Special Olympics, and we strive to advocate their amazing mission. Danielle, our friend and classmate, loved running and Special Olympics. Lets honor her love for life and passion for these two particular things with a fun run and some fundraising!

I am a regular guy that has always been inspired by these amazing athletes that show so much heart. I would like to run a mile for every $10 donated to raise money for the Special Olympics. I chose the Special Olympics because they give these great athletes the opportunities to show the world that they are champions.

John Maccoux was a GIANT of a man (6’8”) and had a heart to match it. The man would do anything for anybody and had many skills to share with others. I once witnessed him literally giving the shirt off his back to a stranger. He truly was a gentle giant, a good friend and a loving father/grandpa. John has a brother (Greg)with special needs so he was involved with Special Olympics early on in his life. John liked to coach all sorts of sports as well. His passion being basketball & everything his kids were in (Sacsha, Jordan, Tanner & Landen)
