Dear Family and Friends: In October I'm participating in the 26th annual Swim A Mile / Move A Mile for Women with Cancer. I sincerely hope you will contribute to support my fundraising efforts! This annual fundraiser benefits the psycho-social programs of the Women's Cancer Resource Center, an East Bay, health-equity organization that has supported under-served women with cancer and their families for more than 35 years. I have been on the Board of Directors for seven years and am honored to have served as Board Chair since 2018. For me, one of the highlights of each year is to serve as captain of the Board of Directors’ and Friends’ Swim A Mile Team. Much to our dismay, we are still dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, but that is not stopping Swim A Mile / Move A Mile for 2021. Our clients and our community continue to feel the impact of this virus and disruption of life. So, we value your support and donations more than ever before. Many WCRC clients are facing the combined trauma of cancer treatment, and the economic, health, and psychological impacts of the pandemic. Once again, I am swimming and walking (Yes, we again have several ways to participate) to ensure that WCRC continues to be a lifeline for many women with cancer. These thousands of people from all backgrounds participate in WCRC’s programs to help bolster their quality of life through cancer treatment and this pandemic. Please help me ensure that WCRC's 100% free programs continue into the future. I am also participating in this 26th anniversary Swim event to honor my mother, sister-in-law, husband, and a growing number of friends who passed from cancer, as well as all of the people and loved ones whom WCRC has served and have persevered through cancer. We are proud WCRC's services are provided 100% free of charge – and they are 100% funded by charitable giving. I hope you will consider donating today. You can contribute online, or mail a check with my name in the memo to: Women's Cancer Resource Center2908 Ellsworth St.Berkeley, CA 94705With deep gratitude!Penni

Dear Family, Friends and Neighbors, Yes, it’s that time of the year again for me to raise funds for women with cancer in the Bay Area by participating in the annual Swim-A-Mile/Move A Mile on behalf of WCRC (Women's Cancer Resource Center). Although progress is being made, the war against cancer has yet to be won. I have been training all summer so I can swim a mile at the beautiful Mills College pool on Oct. 2 at 12:00. Not every senior can do this but I am confident that I will make it through once again. I will be participating in this event to honor my mother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and many friends, all of whom passed from cancer, as well as for all of the women of WCRC who are currently fighting their own personal battles with cancer.WCRC's services are provided 100% free of charge – and they are 100% funded by charitable giving. Thousands of women from all backgrounds participate in WCRC’s programs to help bolster their quality of life through cancer treatment and this pandemic. We who are currently free from COVID-19 and cancer should be grateful for dodging two bullets, but others are not so lucky.IT IS REALLY EASY TO DONATE so please, give just $10, or of course more, to help these under-served women who are still fighting their battles against cancer. They can only do it with support from warm-hearted and caring people like you. You can donate here: text SWIM152 to 71777, or mail a check with my name in the memo to:Women's Cancer Resource Center2908 Ellsworth St.Berkeley, CA 94705I miss seeing you all due to covid, but we'll make it through this together and I can't wait for WCRC to receive the charitable kindness of your support. Stay well!Fondly and with much gratitude,Iris (Hudis)

In early October I will be participating in the Swim A Mile / Move A Mile for Women with Cancer, and I hope you'll make a contribution in support! I was diagnosed with cancer in 2019, went through grueling treatments and just recently started swimming regularly for fitness, physical therapy, and joy. Swimming a mile is definitely going to be a challenge, but I'm so grateful to be able to get in the pool and help raise funds to support the work of the Women's Cancer Resource Center, in Berkeley. And I'll be swimming with my coach and members of my swim team! Since 1986, WCRC has provided programs and a network of supportive services for folks with cancer in the Bay Area. In early October I will be participating in the Swim A Mile / Move A Mile for Women with Cancer, and I hope you'll make a contribution in support of my Swim... or join me in fundraising on Team Point B Paddlers, Movers & Shakers! The Swim A Mile is a fantastic annual fundraiser that benefits the work of the Women's Cancer Resource Center. Since 1986, WCRC has provided programs and a network of supportive services for women with cancer in the Bay Area. This year's event is different because of the pandemic, including swim or move a mile, and in-person (if possible) or virtual options. WCRC has also applied that flexible approach by shifting all services to virtual to support our clients, who need support now more than ever. In fact, we learned that shifting support groups to a virtual setting means some clients can attend who couldn't in the past due to mobility, transportation or other issues. We'll keep that option even after the pandemic subsides, as we continue to look for better ways to serve clients. All of WCRC's services are provided 100% free of charge -- and are 100% funded by charitable giving. You can donate here or send a check with my name in the memo to: The Women's Cancer Resource Center2908 Ellsworth StBerkeley, CA 94705Thanks in advance for your generous donation. It will directly support more than 2,500 people over the next year!
