Dear Family ands Friends, Thanks for checking out Seal Girls' team page! Once again, we're joining forces to raise funds for the Women's Cancer Resource Center. We have swam a mile for family and friends with cancers for 17 years. This year, with Covid-19, we will each walk, jog, run, swim, or kayak for a mile. This year we will be swimming to honor the life and memory of our friend and beloved APIQWTC Community member Susan Kwong who lived life to the fullest and left us on August 25, 2021. WE celebrate Susan by swimming for WCRC in celebration of amazing life's journey.. Your donation will help provide free services to women with cancer in the Bay Area. We, Allison Solomon, Emma Popek, Harriet Sollod, and Beverly Dubrin will be back at the Mills College Pool on October 2, 2021, for the 2021 Swim A Mile/Move A Mile for Women with Cancer. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for the Women’s Cancer Resource Center. The photo above is from our 2019 swim. Having missed swimming together in 2020, this will be an especially fun event for the four of us. Please sponsor any, or all, of us.
Although my birth date is later in the month, I am Celebrating my 70th Birthday on Sunday October 3, 2021 by Swimming a Mile/Move a Mile for Women with Cancer. After being out of the water for over a year and a broken shoulder, which is nothing compared to having cancer, I will be swimming my 22nd Swim A Mile for Women with Cancer, Sunday, Oct 3, 2021 @ 10 am at Mills College in Oakland. With each year, I am amazed at the strength and endurance of people, not only the people with cancer, but the many care givers, whether professional or family or friends. I am glad to be able to support the WCRC who in return support so many. This is a fantastic annual fundraiser that benefits the work of the Women's Cancer Resource Center. Hello friends and family! I am thrilled to share that we get to go back in the pool this year for Swim a Mile to support the Women’s Cancer Resource Center! I’m signed up to swim Saturday Oct. 2 which should be quite an adventure for me since I haven’t been in a pool since March 2020! I did swim in the American River once this summer… I’ll be fine and no matter how long it takes me I’m really pleased to support WCRC this way and be part of this wonderful event. In addition to swimming, I’ll be doing a walk with my Dunkin Doh’Nuts team since some of us can’t swim this year. Please consider donating to WCRC to support them and our efforts – any amount will help inspire me to swim those 72 lengths. All of WCRC's services are provided 100% free of charge and are 100% funded by charitable giving. No donation is too small and it all goes to support WCRC services. Swim a Mile has been one of my favorite days of the year for at least a decade – before I became a participant, I would go cheer on my friends (who are now my Doh'Nut teammates). I am grateful that I can swim, that I get to do with my friends, and that we can support the great work WCRC does and the free services they have continued to provide during the pandemic for women with cancer. I wish you all good health - Thank you! In early October I will be participating in the Swim A Mile / Move A Mile for Berkeley's Women with Cancer, and I hope you'll make a contribution in support! As you may know, I have been swimming for 7 years in another fundraising swim, Swim Across America. This year I will be doing both because I am honoring the work of a fabulous woman I know who is swimming this event during treatment. I know what that is like and I want to support her. So, I'm going to share the wealth this year between these two great events. This is a fantastic annual fundraiser that benefits the work of the Women's Cancer Resource Center.
