HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL! The Pad Project is thrilled to be partnering with RWQuarantunes! RWQuarantunes has raised over $11.8 million dollars. Their admirable fundraising efforts began as relief for those most affected by COVID-19 at the peak of the crisis, but has expanded to other charitable organizations, including the Equal Justice Initiative and Broadway Cares. On Sunday, October 11th, their fundraising efforts will continue with The Pad Project as we come together to celebrate International Day of the Girl. "Since March, Quarantunes has been raising money for some incredible organizations and causes and to be able to raise awareness and money for International Day of the Girl and the Pad Project is so exciting. And I finally get to co-host a Quarantunes with someone my own age!!” - Demi Weitz Please join us in celebrating the girls in your life by supporting girls around the world and ensuring their access to menstrual products. About The Pad Project The Pad Project’s mission is to create and cultivate local and global partnerships to end period stigma and to empower women worldwide. Through innovation, education, and advocacy, The Pad Project aims to help girls feel empowered in their bodies, achieve economic independence, understand their reproductive and sexual health options, and harness the power to shape their lives. So far The Pad Project has installed 6 pad machines, implemented a reusable cloth pad-making program, and provided several grassroots organizations with microgrants to purchase menstrual supplies in bulk. We Need Your Help! Women and girls in low income communities often face a lack of access to menstrual products. 1 in 5 American girls have either left school early or missed it entirely because they didn’t have access to sanitary products. (1) Around the world 2.3 billion people lack access to basic sanitation services. (2) In India, 71% of girls said they did not know about menstruation before their first period. (3) The combination of period poverty, stigmatization, and inadequate reproductive and sexual health education has major consequences for girls’ wellbeing. That’s why The Pad Project partners with grassroots NGOs to install pad machines, implement reusable cloth pad-making programs, and run menstrual hygiene management workshops. Unfortunately, the lockdowns caused by COVID-19 have jeopardized the ability of our NGO partners to continue providing women in their communities with affordable menstrual supplies. So we need your help! A woman should not depend on her husband or any male family member to meet one's needs or to make oneself financially independent. Working in The Pad Project has given me the confidence to think and apply in real life that as a woman, I can be financially independent. ~ Zhehuli, pad machine production staff; NGO partner: EcoHub Your donations will support our existing partnerships in India, Kenya, Sierra Leone, and the U.S. and will help us implement pad machines, reusable cloth pad-making programs, and menstrual hygiene management workshops.
