Bridgehouse Cafe

Sadly, our special helper for the Bridgehouse Cafe was feeling under the weather. That didn't dampen Andrea's holiday spirit, however! The owner of Bridgehouse Cafe still made a delectable turtle cookie that is stuffed with pretzels and nuts, drizzled with chocolate, topped with a Rollo (for that smooth caramel melt), and sprinkled with French sea salt. She also sent home an early Christmas gift for her would be cookie partner! What is the Christmas Cookie Competition? 6 Local Chefs were paired with a child from Flowering Branch Children's Shelter. Children range in age from 10-17. Chefs spent time with the child during the last two weeks of October developing and decorating a cookie together to enter in the competition. Each team has a page dedicated to them under the "Competitors" tab where the community can vote for their favorite cookie. How to Vote for Your Favorite Each $1 equals 1 vote! Click on the "Competitors" tab to choose your favorite. Vote as many times as you would like! Once on their page, click on "Make a Donation" to donate any amount. Internet votes count for 50% of the final score. A panel of local celebrity judges will taste each cookie and provide the other 50% of the judging. The winner of the competition will win a special outing with their partner from FBCS, Trophy, and bragging rights as the best Christmas Cookie in Cartersville.

Noble & Main

The Flowering Branch Children's Shelter resident "Andy" had a nostalgic experience at Noble & Main. Andy decorated his cookies in the beautiful and historic courtyard of Noble & Main. Because of Andy’s fascination with historical facts, he particularly enjoyed the stories about the building being an old gas station. Andy also has a keen mind for architecture and design and had many facts to share about the structure of Noble & Main and it's repurposed décor. This venue was a perfect fit for him! The City Cellar

The Flowering Branch Children's Shelter resident "Abigail" loved the unique style of The City Cellar! The team decorated their cookies in "The Loft" area, and Abigail was able to express her artistic creativity by decorating her circular gingerbread cookies however she liked. She enjoyed her time at The City Cellar so much, that she asked about a job there! Abigail isn't quite old enough to have a job yet, but this experience definitely got her thinking about one. Cartersville Country Club

The Flowering Branch Children's Shelter resident "Jason" had a fantastic time hanging with Chef Cortez at the Cartersville Country Club. Jason enjoyed his time baking four different kinds of cookies. After finding out that Jason was interested in cooking, Chef Cortez fitted Jason out in a traditional Chef’s jacket and hat—great gear for an aspiring chef! Hopefully, Jason will continue to visit with Chef Cortez and try his hand in the kitchen once he turns eighteen. Fire Station 1

The Flowering Branch Children's Shelter resident "Will" had a fantastic time hanging at Fire Station 1. Will enjoyed baking his spicy cookies in the deluxe commercial kitchen of the fire station, but touring the facility was by far his favorite part of the experience. He was able to view all aspects of the station—the fire pole, the fire fighter’s equipment, and he even got to climb in one of the trucks! All of the fire fighters wanted to hang out with Will, and he got to ask them a lot of questions. Maybe we have a future fire fighter on our hands! Flowering Branch Children's Shelter Resident "Rose" had a 'full'-filling time at Neena's pizza. Rose loves to bake, and Neena's unique Amaretti cookies allowed Rose to experiment with new types of ingredients, including almond flower and extract. Perhaps the best part about baking in Neena's kitchen was getting to eat some delicious butter and garlic rolls while waiting for the cookies to cool!
