I never expected my teens to get so involved in BBYO. I remember my first year thinking this is nice and it will be a great job, but not sure this is for them. Fast forward and I cannot believe what a truly life changing experience this has been for them. My son Logan has really grown thanks to BBYO. His first day of high school when everyone ran out in the halls for open lunch, it was his Einstein friends he called to connect with and made the first day of high school easier. He is currently the Gadol of his chapter, attended CLTC, IC and honestly, his closest friends (from all different high schools) all come from his experience here at BBYO. My daughter Lily…I never thought she would join. But like everything, she comes to things in her own time, when she is ready. And in the middle of a pandemic, when BBYO has been nervous about membership and engagement, and as a a parent, I have been nervous about my kids connecting socially. Lily has found a home with some wonderful girls. With high school virtual, this is where she has met some amazing friends, they have engaged her socially, challenged her intellectually and have opened their arms to her because while she may be quiet until she gets to know you, she is one amazing funny kid. I come to work every day (okay, now I head to my basement) for kids like Logan and Lily around the world. Between the one who I wrote a recommendation to clerk at the Supreme Court (and yes he got it!) or the teen who needed someone to talk when things were rough at home. BBYO is that organization that opens its arms to all sorts of kids, like it did for my kids, it feels like home- a safe inclusive environment welcoming to all sorts of teens. You may have similar stories for your kids (or even when you were teens) about BBYO. We appreciate your continued commitment to our mission.
