Like this year's Bowl a Strike for Kids event, due to the pandemic, the majority of our mentoring services have been forced to go "virtual". Our team has worked TIRELESSLY this past year to support our mentoring matches and mentee families. In addition to hosting virtual activities, trainings and webinars, recruiting and matching volunteers with underserved youth, we've distributed hundreds of gift cards, Chromebooks and holiday donations to families in need. We've also rolled out a new service to provide free e-tutoring to youth struggling with remote learning. Thank you for supporting these important programs!

When the pandemic started, I wanted to find a way help students adapt to the challenges of virtual learning. I decided to join the Stand & Deliver Mentoring Program through my employer, and I cannot say enough great things about this program. Mentors meet with students weekly to discuss homework, college planning, and extracurricular activities. I have developed a strong relationship with my mentee, and I have learned so much through my time as a mentor. The benefits of this program extend far beyond the classroom, and I hope to use this page to help this program continue to thrive! BSFK is Family Services’ Mentoring programs signature fundraising events. While our Bowl-a-Strike for Kids will look different this year, your support will have direct impact on our community. During this COVID-19 pandemic, there is an increase in the need for our services because of the trauma, stress, and anxiety that most people are experiencing. We know the families in the mentoring program continue to need trusting relationships with their mentors, emotional support, and basic needs resources. I have been a mentor and a supporter of the Big Friends Little Friends mentoring program for the last 10 years! I have seen first hand the need in our community and the positive impact a mentor can make in the life of a child and on the family. Children and families are struggling more than ever this year.
