I have supported Cancer Lifeline as a donor and as a board member since 2018. I joined in supporting Cancer Lifeline’s mission soon after my father’s Stage 4 kidney cancer diagnosis and treatment several years ago. During that time, I discovered the value and impact of therapeutic and emotional support programs that can give so much to patients, caregivers, and family members in such a difficult time. Over the past three years I have been so privileged to hear the stories from those who have benefited from Cancer Lifeline’s programs and amazing staff that give so much to those impacted by cancer, and I love sharing this experience with others who are interested.

Writing For The Moment

My friend Sue Bartels didn't swear much, but when she made it to the top in the Dolomites with so much of her lung removed, she wasn't swearing, she was triumphing! "Fuck cancer!" and she raised her walking sticks into the air. Day 20-something of the Cancer Lifeline fundraiser. They've been part of my life since 1993. Donations matched now! Final days. https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/Lifeline/WritingfortheMoment Sue always described our writing table best: But this writing is for me. This time is for me – to be present for all the parts of me. Like an active meditation. Quieting my mind by writing out the thoughts tumbling forth – or not tumbling. Just being. I like this quiet time – creative time- solitary, yet part of the group. A merry band of word-crafters and story-spinners and truth-tellers. My soul can breathe in the company of these women. Aaaahhh. Early in the shutdown fellow writers presented me with perhaps the greatest gift I have ever received. See the video below! Conceived by 2019 participants and then created by Ileany Fields & Janet Hasselblad, the Writing for the Moment quilt is my most treasured possession. Over the many years with so many honest words shared at our table I've always felt we were creating a quilt every week. Now I have this object of beauty, of love, that makes me grateful every day for Cancer Lifeline and the honor of facilitating. I first called the Lifeline in 1993: it has been there for me and thousands of others ever since. My greatest regret of 2020 is that I did not get to see and thank Ileany Fields in person for this gift. Helping those whose isolation this last year has been compounded by COVID and whose financial situation has added more life-threatening stress is my #1 cause. Peggy Sturdivant

Hello, thank you for considering donating to Cancer Lifeline's (CL) Breakfast with Friends event. CL has been working for patients and families navigating cancer diagnosis. For nearly 48 years, Cancer Lifeline has helped thousands build strength through support groups, classes in nutrition, exercise, personal expression, stress reduction, personalized emotional support, and financial support. It's been a difficult year for all of us, but please know that no donation is small. Even if you could consider giving $20, that would mean a lot. Your donation helps keep programming and support groups free and accessible for the thousands of patients and families utilizing the services each year. Please consider giving whatever you can to help support the work of Cancer Lifeline. Thank you!

Cancer Lifeline matters because cancer impacts every person. This organization provides information, education, and the critical support that helps create a sense of community when a cancer experience can feel so isolating. Every dollar donated to this organization goes directly to a program that enhances this community and enables people to be with others who get what they are going through. From: Jerilyn: "Cancer Lifeline made a tremendous difference to me and my family when we really needed their support. Ellen and Mary Ellen were alongside us with every step for an entire year. We cherish their dedication and commitment to Cancer Lifeline's mission." As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia in January 2008 and received a life-saving bone marrow transplant just six months later. At the time of my diagnosis, I was very ill and required a lot of medical treatment. I was fortunate to have the love of and support of family, friends, and colleagues to help me navigate the extremely difficult time. Several years after my transplant, I joined Team in Training to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Lisa and I met so many great people along the way and are lucky to have many of them as close friends today. As a team, we raised hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for people battling blood cancer. In March of 2020, I joined the Board of Directors for Cancer Lifeline in Seattle, WA. Cancer Lifeline helps thousands of cancer patients build strength through support groups, classes in nutrition, exercise, personal expression, stress reduction, and personalized emotional support. In looking back at my journey to recovery, I wish had access to such wonderful and supportive programs as the ones offered by Cancer Lifeline. Each year, Cancer Lifeline host a Breakfast with Friends event to generate needed funds for our Patient & Family Support Fund, thus assuring that all our programs remain free and accessible to all people living with cancer. Please consider donating to help support all those that utilize and depend on our services. Thank you for your consideration Dominic I'm fundraising for Cancer Lifeline because they do amazing work, and I'm inviting friends, family and colleagues like you to support my campaign.
