SPONSORED BY: MWD served onboard Naval Weapons Station Earle from July 2015 to February 2022. While onboard, MWD Yoda worked over 50 USSS missions protecting POTUS, VPOTUS and Secretary of State. MWD Yoda also deployed with ASG-KU in support of Operation Inherent Resolve at Camp Beuhring and Arifjan from June 2020 to June 2021. Yoda is living in a home environment where he enjoys dehydrated beef lung, stockpiling toys throughout the house and wrestling with one of his old kennel mates, RMWD Brix. Paws of Honor has joined forces with Hurricane’s Heroes to help retired Military and Law Enforcement working K9s across the country receive the veterinary care they deserve! Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Often times they have accelerated health issues like hip dysplasia or PTSD as a result of their years in the field. Paws of Honor is a nonprofit providing continued quality routine and specialized veterinary care to ALL retired Military and Law Enforcement K9s no matter the department, agency, or branch of service at no cost to the Handler who becomes financially responsible for them upon retirement. Through Paws of Honor’s Veterinary Affiliates continued medical care is provided to each retired K9 enrolled in our Veterinary Care Program. Zara

Canine Zara graduated the Front Royal, VA, Customs & Border Protection K-9 Canine Center in 2015, certified in Narcotics and Human Detection. She worked the various ports near Fort Lauderdale, FL in the US Customs cargo, seaport, airport, and pedestrian environments, as well as temporary assignments screening vehicle traffic at SW border ports of entry. Her primary ports worked were Port Everglades Seaport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airport where she participated in numerous significant drug seizures. Zara was retired as she neared 10 years of age in November 2023 and currently resides with her former handler. She loves dog biscuits, hiding and burying her toys, and especially loves retrieving balls in larger open areas where she can run. Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. They are typically classified as equipment with their medical needs NO longer funded once their service is completed. Zeno

Canine Zeno was a member of the Pennsylvania State Police. He served as an Explosives Detection Canine. He was utilized in a variety of situations to include bomb threats, security sweeps, dignitary protection, gun searches, shell casing searches, and large venue security. He successfully passed yearly certifications every year until his retirement. He was utilized to conduct explosive sweeps for Penn State football games, multiple presidential and gubernatorial elections, NASCAR races, Little League World Series games, bomb threats, etc. He has traveled and and worked in nearly all 67 counties of Pennsylvania. He was one of only 6 PSP Explosive Canines in service. During his final year of service, there were only 2 Explosives Detection Canines in service, one of which was him. It was a busy year! Canine Zeno was and is a high-drive working dog. He still loves to play retrieve and still has a very high prey drive as evidenced by the numerous times he has tried to kill our family cat. He has not adjusted well to retirement. It is plainly obvious that he was born to work and would rather be doing that. Every day is a test to exercise him mentally and physically. Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. Zico

Zico served from 2016-2020 at Fort Riley, KS as one of their drug PDDD. During his time of service, he assisted other bases such as Fort Leonard Wood, MO and Fort Leavenworth, KS. After his retirement in 2020, he has enjoyed his time on the couch with his brothers and sisters. He loves all treats and loves to play ball and tug-of-war. But his favorite thing is getting love and cuddles. He is enjoying retirement to the fullest. K9 Ziggy is an 8 1/2 year old Dutch Shepard from Holland. K9 Ziggy served with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office in Florida from 2017 until his early retirement in 2021. K9 Ziggy is a dual purpose canine trained in narcotics detection and apprehension. K9 Ziggy is well trained in obedience, agility, tracking, article searches and area searches. K9 Ziggy has won 1st place in obedience and agility during USPCA certification. During his time on patrol, K9 Ziggy apprehended over 20 suspects and assisted in the apprehension of many more. K9 Ziggy was also proud member of the U.S Marshal Fugitive Task Force. Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad.
