Denali

SPONSORED BY: Denali is a fun-loving dog that enjoys food of all kinds and his ball. All his passions revolve around carrying his favorite ball around. Denali had a tough adjustment to retirement. Because he loved riding in the police truck. Now that he’s adjusted he likes taking car rides and running around the yard with his new dog brother Cezar. He loves to play, and he is serious about his pets. He insists on being pet and oftentimes forces his nose under your arm to insist on pets. Denali is a former U.S Marine Corps dog and did do time overseas for this country. Once he came to us he was already a Veteran, then he started his 2nd career. He and his handler, Michelle, have done details in different parts of the states and he worked at the U.S Capitol, keeping the public safe, sniffing for bombs in buildings, on cars, and around the capitol complexDenali's favorite snack is anything edible. He doesn’t even think before he gobbles any and everything up. He loves buddy biscuit treats. But really anything edible he can get his paws on. Denali has mass cell tumors removed while he was in service and POH also removed a growth on his leg since he has been under their care. Paws of Honor has joined forces with Hurricane’s Heroes to help retired Military and Law Enforcement working K9s across the country receive the veterinary care they deserve! Working K9s perform a variety of occupations alongside their Handlers ensuring our public is safe from threats or danger, along with protecting our country domestically and abroad. Rest in peace, K9 Devaney EOW 10/20/2023 "Devaney is an 11 year old Mal that had to be retired as a dual purpose Patrol/Narcotics K9 due to his inability to physically work in high heat/humidity effecting his ability to work. He also started to show signs of degenerative myelopathy where he has slowly been losing control of his hind legs. He was a great partner at work who always had my back no matter what. It's heartbreaking to see him struggle to jump up on the couch or in a car due to his disease. I was Devaney's second handler at 3 yrs old and we worked together for over 7 years with the Massachusetts State Police. He has located numerous suspects, missing adults and children, suicidal persons and Narcotics throughout that time. He is that stereo typical crazy Mal that scared many but is a true sweetheart now that he retired. He shares the house now with two other dogs and is the idol of my 2 year old German Shepherd pet who wishes he was a Police dog! They are always together and enjoy relaxing and playing together. Devaney has a very strong bond with my wife and daughter who he follows everywhere. He loves his beds and still shreds every toy he gets, even though many of his teeth have been removed due to wear and tear over his many years of Patrol work."
