The Marywood University Chamber Singers have established themselves as one of the premier college choirs in Northeast Pennsylvania. One of the national finalists for The American Prize in Choral Performance, Chamber Singers were invited to be the featured choir at the 2021 National Meeting of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities. Their performance for that event earned them an invitation to be the featured choir again at the 2022 ACCU National Meeting in Washington, DC. The Chamber Singers are hoping to restart their tradition of touring annually. Their concert tours give the students a musical and educational experience that cannot be replicated in any other way. Prior tours have allowed them to perform concerts at venues such as Steinway Hall and St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, Faneuil Hall in Boston, Yale University's Marquand Chapel, and Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal. In May 2022, the ensemble is looking to embark on a tour of the Northeastern United States. The Marywood Media Group (MMG) is raising funds to support multimedia equipment and facility upgrades. Technology advances at warp speed, and in order to ensure our students are prepared to create cutting-edge content, we need to constantly add to and replace our equipment. Support Marywood's Service Programs and help students continue our tradition of serving those in need! Guided by our mission and core values, this year, Marywood students participated in a spring break Service Trip to Tennessee, and will participate in service trips to Guatemala and Texas in June. Your gift will allow our students to continue serving the world. ARISE Adelante (U.S.-Mexico Border - McAllen, Texas - June 2022) The School of Social Work will partner with Campus Ministry's Office of Community Service and Social Justice to offer a service trip to the Texas/Mexico border region. During the week, the group will work with children and families in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas (all families from Mexico and Central America regions) and provide service in whatever ways we can at the border. Specifically, they will be facilitating a summer camp experience in the morning, doing border work in the afternoon, and planning activities in the colonias (neighborhoods) in the evening. Medical Mission Trip (San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala - June 2022) Participants will engage in direct clinical and health education experiences and will gain exposure to the social factors of health and the provision of medical care in a resource-poor area of the world. A typical day may consist of assisting local medical staff with clinics and home visits in areas surrounding San Lucas Toliman with the Mission's team of Health Promoters. This experience will continue a long-standing relationship between the Mission and our student teams. Brienna-Rae Cruz was a doctoral candidate in the Doctor of Clinical Psychology Program at Marywood. Brie was an advocate, a mentor, and an exceptional clinician within the program. She spent countless hours mentoring those in the cohorts behind her and her peers, advocating on behalf of her clients, working as a graduate assistant, and teaching Psychology 101; all while maintaining academic excellence and defending her qualifying examination with distinction. The Brienna-Rae Cruz Annual Memorial Scholarship has been created in her memory to assist doctoral students in the Clinical Psychology Program. Students are nominated for the scholarship based on academic and clinical excellence and a demonstrable interest in advocating for marginalized communities and mentoring peers.
