Alaqua is so excited to participate in this year’s Goat Games! Meet our Team Captain Hermione—our resident sanctuary goat—affectionately called "Squish" by everyone that meets her! She was surrendered to us with facial deformities that were most likely a birth defect. She has the sweetest personality and mannerisms. We just can’t get enough of her! She loves dressing up, getting her picture made, being an Alaqua ambassador at our public events, and meeting new friends. A staff, volunteer, and visitor favorite, Hermione is most deserving to be our 2022 Goat Games Team Captain! Please join our team and help Hermione and Alaqua take home the Goat Games Gold! For the love of animals, we thank you—Ready, set, go!!! About Alaqua Animal Refuge We believe that every abused, neglected, and homeless animal deserves a second chance…at life, hope, happiness, and most of all, love. As the Southeast’s premier 501(c)3 no-kill animal shelter and sanctuary, we are committed to providing protection, shelter, and care to all types of animals in need. We have been described as being an incomparable haven on earth for rescued animals—from farm animals like goats and horses, to dogs and cats, to birds, pigs, and ducks. We even have a resident water buffalo and two emus! We socialize, love, and care for these animals as if they were our own. We have placed tens of thousands of animals into loving homes and environments and helped countless others through our partnerships and community outreach programs. We are currently in the midst of relocating and building a one-of-a-kind facility—the first in the United States—on 100 acres (an expansion from 10 acres). Our new facility and sanctuary will allow us to continue to do the important work of animal rescue and rehabilitation, as well as be an educational and training center for animal welfare advocates as a place that will inspire, empower, and educate others to make change in our society and recreate our model worldwide. We’re excited to join fellow animal advocates and Sanctuaries in this fun-spirited event to raise awareness and shine a light on our collective mission: creating a more compassionate world for humans and animals. While we’re new to the Goat Games field this year, our roots run deep. Founded in 1986, we’ve provided refuge for thousands of animals and have educated millions of people each year about just, compassionate vegan living. Meet Team Captain Josie Mae aka “The Resilient.” Josie-Mae was born at a goat dairy farm. Due to an accident, her owner decided that she would never be "useful" there. That turned out to be just her luck! Josie-Mae and her mom, Willow, now live at Farm Sanctuary's New York shelter. Josie-Mae is a peppy and friendly goat, and her prosthetics help her explore and play to her heart’s delight! After a day of action, she loves spending some downtime cuddling with her mom. Sign up today with any activity of your choice to spread awareness and support animals like Josie-Mae! Like all animals, Josie-Mae deserves a chance at happiness. By participating in the Goat Games, you are helping make that a reality. About Farm Sanctuary For 36 years, Farm Sanctuary has provided a place of peace and refuge for thousands of rescued farm animals. Farm Sanctuary fights the disastrous effects of animal agriculture on animals, the environment, social justice, and public health through rescue, education, and advocacy. We seek to foster just and compassionate vegan living, and envision a world where Sanctuary replaces exploitation.

The jury is still out, but we're encouraging Ruby to reach for the stars in these Olym-pigs! Ruby arrived at Heartwood Haven unable to walk, but with a lot of love, care, and the power of sanctuary Ruby is not only walking, but she is the swimming queen and the greatest Piggygator of all time! About Heartwood Haven Heartwood Haven is located in a park-like setting in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We are on a mission to end animal cruelty against farmed animals. We primarily work with local animal control to rescue animals from cruelty and abuse cases. These animals are typically former cock-fighting roosters and pigs. Through our successful adoption program, we save hundreds of animals every year. In addition to our rescue work, we also fight for a more compassionate world through our education and advocacy programs. The sanctuary provides "heaven on earth" for farm animals that have nowhere else to turn. Our mission is to inform, inspire and empower the community, especially children, on ways in which we can better care for ourselves and the environment while helping animals in need. We advocate for a kind and compassionate lifestyle that protects animals, the earth, and our own health. By participating in the Goat Games you are helping not only the hundreds of rescued farm animals and all who love and care for them, but the thousands of humans who visit them every year! Through our innovative education programs, humans of all ages have the chance to embrace compassion and fall in love with animals like Franklin, our 2022 Goat Games Captain. Franklin was found alone on a busy highway on New Year's Eve. When he was brought to Indraloka, his complete terror of humans kept him on high alert. He wouldn't even lay down to sleep and shook with fright whenever anyone was close. He was weak, fighting pneumonia and a double eye infection that was so severe, it temporarily blinded him. But after just days in the care of our staff, surrounded by love and gentle hands, Franklin's fear lessened and then disappeared completely. Now, he spends his days with 2 new friends, Oreo and Oliver, running in the pastures and playing with no cares at all. His mischievous personality keeps us all on our toes but he loves hugs and snuggles from visitors. By joining Team Indraloka, you have the opportunity to help goats like Franklin and his many friends of all species. Here’s how it works: Register as an athlete for Team Indraloka and commit to run, walk, hike, bike, swim, or do an activity of your choice, anytime between Friday, August 12 through Monday, August 15, 2022. Share your support with friends and family to raise funds for Indraloka. Donate to Indraloka! You can make a general donation to our Goat Games page or find an athlete to support. Either way, you’re making a difference for Franklin and his friends. However you choose to support the Goat Games, please know that your generosity is deeply appreciated. Since welcoming Pickle in January 2021, she has made incredible progress. You'd never even know she had mobility difficulties when she was a baby! She overcame all odds and now has full use of all of her legs. Nowadays, Pickle is a happy, curious, and energetic little soul. She always has important business to attend to. If she pauses to give you a few moments of her time, you’re very fortunate—baby girl has stuff to do and places to be! She’s the most perfect Pickle in the world. Shrek was our good luck leader for 2021 so we're going to stick with him as our boss goat for the Goat Games 2022. Shrek is the leader of our goat family of twelve. Even though he's the smallest (pygmy), he has the biggest personality. He's the first to greet visitors and demands attention, i.e. endless rubs and kisses! We rescued him right here in SW Florida and he has been an inspiration to everyone who meets him. He embodies the mission of our sanctuary - acceptance, love, and endless snuggles. If you can run, walk, jog, or swim you can join us for the fun -- either with friends and family, or on your own in your backyard or take to the streets - this is a fun way to get outside and have fun while helping raise money for this important fundraiser. It doesn't stop there! You can walk your dog, pick up trash, eat bonbons on your couch, or do anything creative you come up with. As we start our 5th year Little Bear Sanctuary has rescued over 200 farm animals, each one facing an incredibly bleak future if we hadn't intervened. While a lot has changed from the start, Little Bear Sanctuary's mission has remained unwavering: to provide a permanent home for animals in need where they can live their best lives. The funds for this year's Goat Games will be used for the major increase in the monthly overhead required to operate, feed, and house our 200 residents. Ponty came to us after being abandoned and trying to survive in a mobile home in rural North Carolina that was collapsing around him. Even though he is one of our tallest goats, he came to us over 40 pounds underweight, starving and scared with little trust for humans. Today, he is thriving at the Refuge -- he is the largest goat in his herd and is a favorite among Tour guests. The Refuge provides lifelong care to rescued farm animals, educates people about the realities of animal agriculture, and promotes veganism by offering knowledge, support, and community. Founded in 2012, the Refuge has been providing lifelong homes for rescued farm animals for 10 years and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in central North Carolina. We are thrilled to participate in the 2022 Goat Games as we are currently raising funds for general use in support of our recent expansion and future animal rescues! At the beginning of 2021, we were presented with the exciting opportunity to purchase an adjacent lot that has more than doubled our size, from 20 to 45 acres! We have various projects planned for this new land, such as building a perimeter fence, removing and/or restoring the existing structures on the property and making the area suitable for rescued farmed animals. These funds will be vital to beginning these projects and ultimately, completing these goals. Ponty was severely malnourished and lived in a dilapidated shack in the woods before he was rescued. Your donations will also help support food and medical care for current and future animal residents, including new cow rescues! We currently spend over $6000/month on food and veterinary expenses alone for our chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, sheep and goats, so these contributions will also go a long way in helping us continue to provide lifelong homes for animals in need. Thank you so much for your contribution. Your support of our life-saving mission is vital. We are so grateful to have you with us on this journey to make the world a more loving and compassionate place for all beings! This is Safe Haven's first year with the Goat Games, and we are excited to join in the fun! We hope YOU will JOIN US as we strive to raise $10,000 to help us continue our work. You can run, walk, jog, swim! Whatever you like, wherever you like! You can even "Sit and Knit" for a few hours! This is fun way to get outside and have fun while helping raise money for this important cause. You can bet Rocky will be cheering you on! About Safe Haven Rabbit Rescue Since 2003, Safe Haven Rabbit Rescue has provided foster home care for abandoned, abused, and neglected domestic rabbits. All rabbits are spayed/neutered, provided the best medical care available, and receive individualized attention and love of their foster families. Those rabbits who are not eligible for adoption, either due to health, age or temperament remain with us as sanctuary bunnies. Safe Haven continues to develop our foster homes, educational programs, and outreach programs as a means of providing and promoting the best care for rabbits and to inspire action for this often misunderstood and too often abandoned species.

This year's Goat Games is hugely important to Wildwood! We have to move from our current location and need funding to purchase a new one. A generous donor has already committed a substantial amount for a new property; we’re committed to raising the rest. Please join the Goat Games as an athlete, sponsor or donor and help us secure a new sanctuary for all our beloved residents. And now, onto the fun... Our 2022 team captain, Orin, is both an athlete and an inspiring leader. At 14 years of age, he's definitely the senior team captain of our goat herd here at Wildwood. He keeps everyone in line! He has the sweetest personality and is still very agile! He is taking his new job very seriously and demanding excellence from the team – no ifs, ands or buts about it. Well, maybe a few butts. Most of the animals at Wildwood had a pretty rough start in life. Many were rescued from factory farms, terrible abuse and neglect. Now, surrounded by love and good friends, they are free to be their sweet, sensitive, silly selves. Nothing makes the humans here happier than to see them engage in shenanigans and hijinks. About Wildwood Farm Sanctuary & Preserve Wildwood Farm Sanctuary & Preserve is an accredited, 501c3 farm animal sanctuary currently located in Newberg, Oregon. Since 2012, we have provided a safe haven for abused and abandoned farmed animals. We are looking for a new property to continue our mission of promoting compassion and inspiring change.

If you want to join a team that’s in it to win it, you're in the right place! We're led by Team Co-Captains Reggie and Oswald who show no mercy toward competition and will win by any means necessary. Don't let their sweet photos and videos fool you, Reggie and Oswald are notorious for playing dirty and once we win, will never let the losing teams forget it. Why support team Yesahcan, you ask? Because our motto here is "Yes I Can!" and with your support we know we can go for the gold. "Yes I Can" to help raise funds for the over eighty residents that call Yesahcan Sanctuary home. "Yes I Can" to support nourishment, emergency and routine medical care, and enrichment for the Yesahcan residents. "Yes I Can" to build 30 foot statues of Reggie and Oswald posing with the gold medals. (Ok, I'm not actually building the statues, but Reggie and Oswald are only in it for the fame so don't tell them.) Who should join team Yesahcan? If you can say yes at least one qualification below you are ready to join the team! :) Want to be on the winning team. You won’t embarrass Reggie or Oswald. They’ll hold a grudge. You normally watch TikTok videos of cats in boxes. You are an Olympian. (You’re probably not but just checking.) You exercise anyway, might as well do it to raise funds for animals! You have a pulse. Yes, we’ll take anyone despite what Reggie and Oswald say! Let’s be real – how often can you team up with two ruthless goats leading the team to win a gold medal and spread the word to help animals. We need your help to make this happen. After all, there’s no 'I' in Yesahcan Sanctuary. (Though there is one in "Reggie", and he is knows it.) We hope you join us for the Goat Games 2022. Let’s do this - Yes, we can! About Team Captains Oswald and Reggie Oswald and Reggie were found roaming a neighboring county when picked up by animal services as strays in early 2020. Thankfully, they were spared from the common practice of auctioning off stray farmed animals that so commonly takes place in Florida and found sanctuary at Yesahcan. It is rare to ever find Reggie and Oswald too far from each other. They are both full of energy and are always ready for friendly competitions. Reggie and Oswald are looking forward to leading the Yesahcan crew in the Goat Games! About Yesahcan Sanctuary Yesahcan Sanctuary is an all woman, all volunteer operated non-profit organization that offers refuge and life-long homes to farm animals in need. Founded in 2018, the sanctuary is home to over 80 permanent residents, many of whom have been abandoned, abused, surrendered by owners, or simply subjected to the cruelties of the animal agriculture industry. The mission is two-fold: first, to shelter; second, to educate. Yesahcan Sanctuary is designed to be a refuge for everyone who steps foot on its grounds.
