In an effort to uphold the mission of the Alumni Association, we are asking for your support to help fund the Alumni Association Legacy Endowment which recognizes academic achievements and leadership potential in students who parent, sibling, grandparent, son or daughter is a Ferris State University graduate. Last year we were fortunate enough to provide $45,000 in scholarship funds to help support our students in their quest for a degree from Ferris State. Please help us continue the legacy tradition and support our students.

Your donation will provide students with academic success materials and personal development tools. Students who are active participants can receive a book voucher. Through the first two cohorts, participants received fewer mid-term grade warnings and felt more involved in the greater university community.

I have been a volunteer success coach for these students since we launched the program in Spring 2023. I've personally witnessed the powerful impact this has on our students and have watched them become mentors to their peers. Through the first two cohorts, participants received fewer mid-term grade warnings and felt more involved in the greater university community.

It is my privilege to work with students with disabilities as they go through their academic journey. The best part of my job is seeing the growth of students as they mature and become the adults that they want to be. The heartbreaking part of my job is seeing the added barriers that students with disabilities go through. Many of these are access barriers that we work through with accommodations, but the added financial barriers are often overlooked. I work with many students who have significant concerns about medical bills and lack of insurance coverage to pay for needed treatment. Some are concerned about the cost of needed medical equipment. Many students are not able to take a full load of classes, rendering them ineligible for many types of financial aid. These are just a few of the reasons that a scholarship designated for students with disabilities is so crucial to for students to access education. This year, I am asking you to help support these students and make a major impact in their lives. I greatly appreciate your support.

Nearly 20% of college students report having a disability, but many do not go on to complete their degrees due to institutional barriers, including financial barriers. 25% of college students with disabilities leave college after one year compared to 14% of those without disabilities. Students with disabilities can choose to take a reduced course load, but that often means reduced financial and fewer scholarship opportunities. The longer time to degree also means more college debt and lost wages. By supporting this scholarship, you are helping to decrease these barriers. Thank you for supporting this fundraising effort.

Since opening in 2015, the MoSO (Museum of Sexist Objects), has done important work to raise awareness about the many, often insidious, ways that sexism operates not only in American society, but the world over. We are proud of our recent LGBTQ+ and Masculinity cases and look forward to building two new exhibits on Period Shaming and the Pink Tax. Both are student inspired. Our biggest event this year was our collaboration with the Ferris Fine Art Gallery to present an exhibit called "Much Ado about Barbie." It received extensive press coverage and involved collaboration with both Kendall College and Piper Adonya, the creator of "Black Barbie" graphics. The MoSO Barbies we displayed were purchased with your generous contributions. Thank you for your support over the years!

Our program is dedicated to providing students and faculty with invaluable opportunities for hands-on learning and professional development. Funds raised through this campaign will be used to fund student and faculty travel for field trips and plastics industry conferences. These experiences are essential for our students to gain real-world insights, network with industry professionals, and stay updated on the latest advancements in the industry. Funds from last year's campaign were used for three trips to Novi, Grand Rapids, and Newaygo, MI. Because of the donations, students did not have to pay anything out of pocket for these experiences. As part of the "One Day for DAWGS" event I am raising funds for the Ferris Youth Initiative Johnson Scholars Program. The “FYI” Johnson Scholars program provides on-going support for FSU student members, who have experienced and/or aged out of foster care. Funds received will be utilized to purchase much needed items for the "FYI" student pantry such as pillows, blankets, school supplies, towels, and personal items.
