A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

The twelve points of the Scout Law are recited regularly by the more than 26,000 Scouts in the Heart of America Council at their troop meetings, campouts, and Scouting events. It's more than just knowing the words. This is about living the message. These twelve points have helped Scouts become a better family members, friends, and citizens.

Today, I'm answering the Heart of America's call to remember the 3rd point - a Scout is Helpful - and reaching out to my network. Will you join me in supporting Scouting? Even just $12 can make a difference.

Since 1910, Scouting’s mission in Kansas City has been centered on preparing our young people for life and developing leaders of character. The Heart of America Council is a pillar in Kansas City with over 600 partner organizations including churches, schools, and civic clubs throughout the metropolitan area. No one has more experience activating communities or mentoring young men and women.

The future of our nation is resting on the shoulders of today’s youth and we are doing our part to prepare them. Scouting is where leaders learn to lead. Scouting is where young men and women learn to be caring and responsible adults. The opportunities provided by Scouting are more relevant today than ever before.
