Last year, 209 Eagle Scouts logged nearly 20,000 service hours in and around the Northeast Illinois Council. The Eagle Challenge, which started in 2017, encourages our Eagle Scout alumni and friends to "Pay it Forward" in support of our newest Eagles and all Scouts "on the trail" working in our communities to make a lasting difference in and around the Northeast Illinois Council.
Typically, the Eagle Challenge allows us to recognize our newest class of Eagle Scouts, and their Scoutmasters, at our annual Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner with no cost to them. Unfortunately our 2020 dinner was cancelled due to COVID-19 but we plan to invite the 2019 Eagles to next year's dinner!
Your gift to the Eagle Challenge also provides services such as Eagle Scout Application and other advancement processing, training for our adult leaders, scholarships for low-income Scouts, and a number of other resources that our Scouts and units need to continue Scouting.
COVID-19 has forced the Northeast Illinois Council to cancel or postpone many activities, camps, and fundraisers and this has created a challenging financial situation for the council. A group of the council’s most generous donors have stepped up to help through the launch of the “Good Turn Campaign.” This one-time campaign is looking to raise $500,000 which will be used to match any new donations made to the council’s other fundraising campaigns through the end of the year – including the Eagle Challenge! We are hoping to take full advantage of the match through this generous matching gift opportunity and thank you for your support!
