Angel City Sports is an inspiring non-profit in Los Angeles whose mission is to improve the lives of individuals of all ages with physical disabilities by creating year-round adaptive and Paralympic sports programming. The physically disabled community is a dramatically underserved community that struggles with higher rates of physical, emotional, and economic challenges. Sports and physical activity represent an essential outlet to improve health, social engagement, confidence and sense of purpose.
Your financial support will help us help create sports programs for children and adults with physical disabilities in Southern California. Our goal this year is to raise $1,000,000 to build an inventory of loaner sports equipment, year-round introductory sports clinics, and of course our flagship annual competition, the Angel City Games.
Last summer, at the 2019 5th Annual, Angel City games we had 425 athletes compete in Swimming, Track & Field, Archery, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Tennis, Sitting Volleyball & Table Tennis.
Please join us for the upcoming 2020 Angel City Games presented by The Hartford at UCLA on the weekend of June 20th. This year’s Games will offer nine adaptive sports clinics and competitions including Track & Field, Swimming, Wheelchair Tennis, Wheelchair Basketball, Archery, Sitting Volleyball, Table Tennis, Goalball, and either Taekwondo or Powerlifting.
The Angel City Games is a family-friendly event with a wide array of activities and special events throughout the week for all to enjoy. The goal is to celebrate the talents and strengths of adaptive athletes and create a community of support and understanding around sports. People with physical disabilities can learn new skills from expert coaches, compete in sports they love, and everyone can be part of the experience to get a sense of what being an adaptive athlete is all about.
