The Black Church Food Security Network just launched the Faith, Food & Freedom Summer - a national campaign to organize and mobilize the Black Church community around health, wealth, and power through the summer and beyond.

We're decreasing dependence on an unjust food system by organizing what's in our hands to build the system that we need.

Our goals: 1) promote gardening, 2) patronize Black farmers, 3) practice emergency food storage.

We invite you to spread the word, join our campaign, and give!

Who We Are: Founded in 2015, the Black Church Food Security Network (BCFSN) is working to create Black-led food systems anchored by Black churches in partnership with Black farmers.  Our work is rooted in the principles of Black food and land sovereignty.  Therefore, we are not a food charity organization.  We are a self-help organization that utilizes an asset-based community development model that leverages and maximizes the existing resources of the Black Church community.  Through this approach, we are advancing health, wealth, and power for our people! We currently work with farmers, churches, organizations, and seminaries across Baltimore, and throughout Maryland, Washington D.C, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, and Texas.

Our Mission: The Black Church Food Security Network strengthens and establishes economic ventures that supply and support every part of the food system by working with Black churches, conducting research, and building social cohesion.

Our Vision: We envision a sustainable, community-centered food system supported by Black churches and Black producers, led by those most directly affected by food inequity.
