The school mourns the passing of MacDonald Becket, whose singular presence helped guide the Board of Councilors from the time of his serving as the founding chairman in 1983 until his death.
MacDonald Becket was a devoted USC alumnus and champion of the art & architecture community in LA. His support of the School of Architecture included the opening of the MacDonald Becket School Center and serving as founder of the dean’s advisory council (now known as the School of Architecture’s Board of Councilors). MacDonald served as the inaugural Board Chairman and continued as a Board member until this year, the longest serving Board Member for the School. He was awarded the USC Alumni Merit Award for his continued service to the university and outstanding professional career and was inducted into the Half Century Trojans Hall of Fame.
To continue MacDonald Becket’s legacy in support of the USC School of Architecture, we ask that you contribute to the MacDonald Becket Scholarship Fund in lieu of flowers. This donation will support the USC School of Architecture’s general scholarship fund, awarding merit scholarships to students based on academic excellence, leadership, service, and talent.
