There are many people in the City of Detroit who are not able to travel to soup kitchens, so the Bed & Bread trucks bring the “soup kitchen” to them, a program that is unique to the Detroit area. Just one donation of $120 ($10 monthly) provides nearly a month of meals for five people. Consider making a gift today or joining the effort by becoming a fundraiser today!
Every day, The Salvation Army feeds more than 4,000 meals to hungry men, women and children . . . and provides safe shelter for nearly 450 people every night. Last year, gifts from people like you helped staff and volunteers serve 93,600 loaves of bread, 130,000 pounds of lunch meat and 182,000 hot dogs, as well as 520,000 pieces of fruit and snacks. The Bed & Bread Club® truck makes more than 50 stops every day throughout Metro Detroit, offering hats, gloves, coats and what may be the only meal some people eat that day.
