15th Annual CANstruction Theme -All That Glitters CAN be Gold!
Meals for our community, One Can at a Time, is the Gold standard for Giving!
"This year's CANstruction competition honors the Can-do attitude of AIA Honolulu's CANstruction teams that possess the "golden touch" along Kahala Mall's 50th (Golden) Anniversary year. Just as Kahala Mall has been a gathering space for diversity throughout their tenure as a mainstay in East Oahu, CANstruction teams will be the glittery-gold presence for a very special week in October! Hunger affects thousands around the entire island. Structures made entirely of canned foods to donate to the Hawaii Foodbank will be a gold rush of creativity and a shining example of imagination leading the community service event towards that pot at the end of the rainbow. AIA Honolulu Teams within Hawaii's design & construction industry are encouraged to rally around this year's theme by using their 14 karat-ideas to design and build structures that reflect the true value of giving and generosity that is good as gold."
What is CANstruction?
Competing teams, led by architecture firms, allied designers, and engineering and construction professionals design and build structures by using canned goods and other non-perishable foods.
Canstruction® is a national community service program trademarked and created by the Society for Design Administration (SDA) on behalf of the design and construction industry. The American Institute of Architects (AIA), Honolulu Chapter, working in tandem with the other members of the design and construction industry presents the annual Canstruction® competition in Hawaii.
