The economic fallout from Coronavirus is causing significant hardship for many Frederick County families. 39% of households in Frederick County already struggled to afford basic households.* Today, many of these families, known as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), face an even more uncertain future.
This COVID-19 Emergency Relief Campaign dollars will be used to support nonprofits who directly help those adversely affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Programmatic impacts may include, but are not limited to, emergency shelter, financial stability programs, transportation needs, prescriptions and medical supplies, food and food supplies for seniors, and suicide prevention and other mental health services.
To stimulate giving, the Ausherman Family Foundation has committed a $25,000 challenge grant. The challenge grant is issued as a $2 to $1 match until all matching funds are exhausted. This means that a $150 contribution will unlock an additional $300 for a total of $450 to support the Frederick County nonprofit community and their clients.
Thank you to those who committed to match the first $60,000 in donations:
Laughlin Family Foundation,The Mark and Susan Butt Saturday Mornings Fund, Robert G. Hooper Family Fund, Halleman Family Fund, Michael & Betsy Day, The Jean Ellis and Florence Guss Memorial Fund and The Ken and Lynn Burdette Donor-Advised Fund.
To ensure maximum impact, the funding community (United Way of Frederick County, Ausherman Family Foundation, Community Foundation of Frederick County, Delaplaine Foundation, Inc., Helen J. Serini Foundation, Women's Giving Circle and others) is banding together to ensure that dollars are distributed appropriately throughout the community.
