Students Need Your Help
Amid COVID-19 impacts, the existing challenges of student poverty like hunger, homelessness, and technology gaps have only worsened. This fundraiser provides Chico State students with resources to meet their immediate needs to allow them to continue their studies. Gifts of ANY size help more students get the funding and support they need.
Since March, donors have already provided more than 1,000 students with food, emergency grants, and homeless prevention services as part of the Basic Needs Project, and helped with technology loans including approximately 360 laptops and 190 Wi-Fi mobile hotspots. This includes more than $50,000 in emergency grants and rental assistance for students in economic crisis, and rapidly rehousing 25 students experiencing homelessness.
Pre-pandemic research estimates that 50% of Chico State students experience food insecurity and 20% lack the means for or access to safe and stable housing. We know these numbers have only increased due to COVID-19 impacts, not to mention the growing needs for technology support, scholarships, and more.
We need additional community funding to sufficiently respond to students in dire need
- $50 could help cover a student's utility bills
- $100 could stock the Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry with 150lbs of fresh produce
- $200 could provide one week of emergency housing for a student in crisis
- $500 could help purchase a laptop so a student can continue their studies remotely
EVERY DOLLAR of support provides much-needed, immediate resources for Chico State students experiencing financial hardship. Thank you for helping us ensure every student, no matter their need, has access to the opportunity of higher education.
