Agency Name: Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Omaha

Founded in: 1926

Goal: $25,000

Why your gift is needed:

For nearly a century, whenever there are people in need, Catholic Charities of Omaha has been there‚ providing food to the hungry, safety to the endangered, and support to those who are suffering. Last year we served 156,000 people in need through our programs and services and distributed 1.4 million pounds of food. This is our mission; it's what we're built for.

Ninety percent of our operational budget is dependent on the generosity of donors, volunteers and community partners. Philanthropic dollars are what power our mission-based work and enable us to have such a broad and deep impact on this community. Now more than ever, we need your help to answer the call and stand with us.

What your gift will do:

Each time you donate to Catholic Charities of Omaha, you help your neighbors in need. We provide mission-based programs that meet a critical need in the community. Our six core programs include Behavioral Health Services, Emergency and Supportive Food Services, Domestic Violence Services, Family Strengthening Services, Immigration Legal Services and Microbusiness Training Program.

Every day we help people help themselves to rise above adversity by harnessing the strength of the human spirit and the power of community to shine a light for those in darkness.

Agency Summary:

Catholic Charities of Omaha ministers to the greatest and most fundamental needs of our community‚ advocating for the voiceless, hungry, addicted, abused, and forgotten individuals and families annually regardless of race, religion, creed, or socioeconomic status.

We meet the needs of urban and rural families with three food pantries, the only emergency domestic violence shelter in Douglas County, mental health therapy to students in 21 area schools, business classes for budding entrepreneurs from low-income neighborhoods, and a homebound senior food delivery service.

Catholic Charities is an anchor at the Juan Diego Center serving South Omaha and St. Martin de Porres Center serving North Omaha. Our new home, the Bedford Building, is now serving Northwest Omaha. We will continue to minister works of mercy to all who call upon us, and provide resources and guidance to those seeking self-sufficiency.
