What is Friends In Deed?

Friends In Deed is an organization that helps low-income families with their emergency needs: basic-needs furniture, prevention of utility shut off, the cost of an unexpected car repair and more. Friends In Deed also helps families lift themselves out of poverty through its Circles program. Circles utilizes education, goal setting, training, and relationships to help participants develop the resources and social capital they need to achieve economic independence.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum age to rappel?

Anyone can participate in an Over The Edge event. People in their 80s and 90s rappel! The only restriction is that anyone under the age of 18 requires a parent or guardian's signature on the legal waiver.

What is the fundraising deadline?

September 15th is the official fundraising deadline. You may continue to raise money until November 2nd, but if you haven't reached your fundraising goal by September 15, Friends In Deed must be given permission to charge however much you haven't raised to your credit card on November 2nd. This way, you can guarantee your commitment to Friends In Deed while still having an additional month after the event to raise funds to reach your goal. Please contact Friends In Deed at [email protected] with any questions..

Do I need to have experience to participate?

Not at all! Our technicians will provide all the training and support your need to get Over The Edge!

Can I wear a costume?

Absolutely! Our on-site technical team will do their best to make your costume work for your rappel. The technical team has the final say in whether the costume is safe enough to rappel. Stringy, loose, or excessive costumes must be avoided. Head pieces that will not accommodate a helmet, obscure the vision, or are notably large or heavy will rarely be allowed.

What is the minimum/maximum weight to rappel?

Over The Edge's safety standards require that people must be between 100 and 300 lbs in order to safely rappel.
