3D Printed Face Shields for Healthcare Professionals

George Fox staff and faculty are hard at work in the university's Engineering Maker Hub to produce 3D printed face shields to help protect local healthcare professionals on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. With current equipment, approximately 150 face shields can be produced each day. We are looking to double our capacity to meet the urgent needs of local healthcare professionals and seeking funding to purchase additional equipment and materials. With your help, we can purchase 8 new 3D printers and additional materials that will allow us to produce approximately 300 face shields each day! Help us provide much-needed protection to keep local healthcare professionals and our community safe.

As part of our Christian mission, the George Fox College of Engineering is dedicated to supporting communities through service. Healthcare professionals are in need of equipment to protect them and our communities from COVID-19 as they battle this deadly disease. The Engineering Maker's Hub is a place where students, faculty, and staff can come together to build and create practical solutions to real-world problems.

As we face a pandemic, staff and faculty have come together to use technology and engineering skills to develop face shields using 3D printers that are being directly provided to local healthcare workers. There is a critical shortage of protective face shields for healthcare professionals and George Fox University and the College of Engineering are doing what we do best, fulfilling the Be Known Promise and our mission by supporting our community and providing face shields at no cost to local healthcare professionals.
