Please join us in recognizing Stephen “Steve” Murrill, recipient of the 49th Good Scout Award at our annual Good Scout Dinner, chaired by past Good Scout John Landgraf. The dinner will be held on November 7, 2019 at Valley Lo Country Club in Glenview, IL.
An Eagle Scout himself, Steve understood the importance of Scouting. When their son joined the Cub Scouts, Steve and his wife Liz signed up to be leaders. Steve continued as a leader when his sons were in Troop 5 in Wilmette as well. Being a Scout leader is not always easy, but Steve and the other leaders would remind themselves often that it’s “for the boys”.
Steve purchased Profile Plastics, Inc. from John N. Grundy in 1987. Grundy, as luck would have it, was an Eagle Scout from Evanston and, at the time, was the Scoutmaster of Troop 55 in Glenview. Professionally, Steve has received recognition from both Purdue University and the Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE).
Steve has served on the NEIC board since 2000, including a three-year term as council president. He has been recognized with a number of prestigious Scouting awards including the Silver Beaver and National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award.
The Good Scout Award has been presented annually since 1970 and recognizes top community leaders who lead by the examples set in the Scout Oath and Law. Funds raised through the Good Scout Dinner support Scouting programs that serve over 11,000 young men and women throughout Northeast Illinois.
