The purpose of this event is to raise awareness about violence against women and to raise much needed funding for Women’s Resource Center and Newspapers-in-Education, two very hard working organizations in your community. My name is Kelvin Pannell, proud Father, Educator, Coach, and Mentor. As I consider the reasons I believe in this cause my mind takes me to all the incredible women I have been blessed to have in my life including my mother, my grandmother, and my aunt who are all fiercely strong and beautiful women. They have shaped my life profoundly and helped to mold me into a man who has the utmost respect and appreciation for all women. That said, my greatest inspiration comes from my beautiful daughter who I plan to ensure is always treated with the love and respect she so deserves. Thank you in advance for your support of The Women's Resource Center and for standing with me against violence toward women everywhere.
Women’s Resource Center is a private, non-profit agency that provides temporary shelter, counseling, advocacy and supportive services for victims, survivors and witnesses of domestic and sexual violence. Women’s Resource Center operates a 36-bed shelter (largest in the state) that has been housing victims of domestic and sexual violence since 1983. We provide the same free, confidential services to victims in Raleigh, Fayette, Nicholas and Summers counties through four outreach offices.
