 Mobile Munchies

  • Mobile Munchies is an outreach of Lihue Lutheran church, to provide a nourishing meal to those children and adults on Kauai who may go hungry.
  • In 2005, our congregation began the Mobile Munchies Program. Each Mobile Munchie is a brown bag meal, designed to meet the nutritional needs of children.  Each bag consists of:
  • One Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich on whole wheat bread
  • Six baby carrots
  • One quarter cup of raisins
  • One small bag of chips
  • One granola bar
  • One fruit drink

Mobile Munchies Makers

  • We are currently making 440+ brown bag lunches per week, at a cost of $1.73 per lunch bag.
  • Within a year, there are 35 different folks help prepare for a total of 2,263volunteer hours.
  • Since May, 2005, 240,000+ munchies were prepared and distributed

About The Charity Walk
The Charity Walk, founded in 1974 and expanded statewide in 1978, is now Hawai‘i’s largest single-day fundraising event by a non-profit organization. Since its inception, more than $32 million has been raised to support hundreds of local charities throughout the state. Spearheaded by the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association and it's non-profit arm Hawaii Hotel Industry Foundation, the Charity Walk is traditionally held every May on Hawai‘i, Kaua‘i, Lana‘i, Maui, Moloka‘i, and O‘ahu. Money raised on an island or county stays there. The public is invited to participate in this event featuring a morning of great food, fun, fabulous entertainment, and a little exercise to help island charities.
