CalNevHa Kiwanis Division 44 is building a classroom in Nicaragua to help 44 students now going to school in a shipping container. The campaign is called “6C’s” for Clusters of Clubs Collaborating to Create Catalytic Change.

It will be a model for every other Club and District in the nation. We are BIGGER when we help others and we can do MORE when we work together.

TGUP, in partnership with Seeds of Learning, will fund the construction of a new classroom and two latrines for the community of La Quebradita. The local school currently consists of a 40’ metal cargo container that has been converted into a classroom. There are 50 students who would like to attend but there just isn’t enough space for them all inside the container.

The container gets very hot and does not provide a conducive learning environment. The school has two teachers that are provided by the Ministry of Education. The new classroom will be 10x6 meters including a separating wall so that two classes can be held simultaneously. Two latrines will also be built on site.

The community will contribute labor and quarry materials to level the land prior to construction. After school, the classroom will be used for community events, education, and health services.
