The Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Endowment Fund was founded by Jim Chandler in 1986 to raise capital funds for the support of Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation. Jim worked as a professional with the Boy Scouts of America for over forty years, and on April 27, 2014 was honored as a Distinguished Eagle by the National Council, BSA.
Jim passed away on May 1, 2014, leaving a wonderful legacy of energetic service to youth. A true Scouter’s Scouter, encouraging and leading by example.
So now we endeavor to continue the enterprise Jim started 30 years ago: The Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Endowment Fund. As Jim explained again and again, “Gifts to the fund are perpetual; only the earnings can be spent on projects to improve camp facilities now, preparing for the future.”
