Join Aloha Harvest in the Oahu Charity Walk 2020!

In Hawai'i, about 1 in 7 people are food insecure and yet 474 million pounds of food is wasted annually. Aloha Harvest is the only nonprofit in Hawai`i that does large-scale food rescue and redistribution, getting quality excess food into stomachs instead of landfills. Free of charge and free of liability, we pick up excess food from 250+ donors and deliver it to 175+ social service agencies feeding the hungry. Now in our 20th year, we have rescued and redistributed over 23 million pounds of food that would have otherwise been wasted.
We rescue excess food from all kinds of places - wholesale distributors, grocery stores, restaurants, farms, and even backyard luau-throwers who didn't finish their kalua pork.

The agencies we deliver excess food to serve populations that include:

-At-risk youth

-Those who are homeless or who need housing assistance

-Those who are unemployed

-Those recovering from substance and/or physical abuse

-Those who have mental and/or physical disabilities

-Those living with HIV/AIDS

-Senior citizens

-Native Hawaiians and Pacific islanders

By partnering with us, you help to ease food insecurity AND protect our environment. Less food in landfills = less greenhouse gas emissions. The Waimanalo Gulch (the only landfill on the island for solid waste) has capacity to serve for only 15 more years. No other community is willing to host a new landfill. As one `ohana, we must prioritize reducing as much unnecessary waste as possible.

People all over the island are grateful for the food we're able to provide, with the help of people like you. Mahalo for your kōkua!

About The Charity Walk
The Charity Walk, founded in 1974 and expanded statewide in 1978, is now Hawai‘i’s largest single-day fundraising event by a non-profit organization. Since its inception, more than $32 million has been raised to support hundreds of local charities throughout the state. Spearheaded by the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association and its non-profit arm Hawaii Hotel Industry Foundation, the Charity Walk is traditionally held every May on Hawai‘i, Kaua‘i, Lana‘i, Maui, Moloka‘i, and O‘ahu. Money raised on an island or county stays there. The public is invited to participate in this event featuring a morning of great food, fun, fabulous entertainment, and a little exercise to help island charities.
