I am RAPPELLING for MY REASON, Amanda, one  of 75 REASONS benefiting this event. Meet them all here.

It's not every day you get the chance to rappel off a 26-story building - that's over 325 feet down!  It's something I can check off my bucket list & the best part is that I get to do it for Amanda who is very sick & her family who are struggling terribly financially.

Amanda is typically a beautiful, spunky 8-year-old girl who was born with Down Syndrome.  Unfortunately, Down Syndrome carries with it the potential for many different complications which Amanda has and is experiencing in the form of heart issues.  In the midst of dealing with her heart, Amanda's Mom noticed that she was abnormally tired.  That, combined with her complaining of elbow pain, told her Mom something wasn't right.  Needless to say, they were stunned when hospital staff told them Amanda has Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Amanda went through treatment that wreaked havoc on her little body and she, nor her family, have been the same since.

I am not only pledging to Rappel for a Reason, but I am also trying to raise a minimum of $1,000 for the Aubrey Rose Foundation to directly benefit Amanda and her family - I need your support to get to the top.

Over the past 16 years, the Aubrey Rose Foundation has gifted over $1 Million dollars to hundreds of kids like Amanda & their families. They are a Cincinnati based 501c3 non-profit & give 97 cents of every dollar donated to the foundation to these children & their families. All donations to the Aubrey Rose Foundation are 100% tax deductible. You can get all the info at http://aubreyrose.org

I'M PSYCHED TO HELP! If you can too, I'd be grateful.  ANY amount you can give will help – together we can get this done!

It’s easy to make a 100% tax deductible donation. Just click the orange button to on the right side of this page that says DONATE”, or you can send checks or money orders made out to Aubrey Rose Foundation, 3862 Race Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211 noted with R4aR and my name.

Know friends, family or co-workers that will help? Please share this link with them.

Thank you for helping me help Amanda and supporting the great work that Aubrey Rose Foundation is doing.  Please come down and cheer us on - Saturday, July 14th -  Parking is free in the 36 E 7th Street Building garage, Cincinnati, OH  45202.

Jerry & Nancy Hollenkamp know firsthand the struggles that come with caring for a "REASON"!  Their daughter, Aubrey Rose, underwent open-heart surgery at ten weeks of age and was diagnosed with "Scimitar Syndrome" and "Pulmonary Vein Stenosis".  Over the next two years, Aubrey would endure two more open-heart surgeries, a tricuspid valve replacement, have a permanent pace maker installed and ultimately a heart and double lung transplant.  Sadly, Aubrey suddenly passed away just days before her third birthday.  Jerry & Nancy immediately vowed to carry on Aubrey's spirit by helping others facing the challenges associated with having a critically ill child.

Over the past sixteen years, the Aubrey Rose Foundation (a Cincinnati-based 501(c)(3) non-profit) has gifted over $1 Million dollars to lift the unbearable emotional & financial weight placed on families caring for children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

Ninety-seven cents of every dollar donated to the Aubrey Rose Foundation is distributed to these children & their families through one of the many ARF Mission Programs, including (in addition to Rappel for a Reason), the American Girl Fashion Shows, CCHMC Healing the World’s Hearts Program, CCHMC Heart Transplant Patient Picnics, Ronald McDonald House Patient Parties & Dinners, academic scholarships and individual family financial support.

The Foundation also honors exceptional, local pediatric physicians making a difference in the lives of children in medical need by accepting nominations & recognizing five outstanding physicians during their annual Doctor of the Year awards ceremony.
