Hello, everyone! I have the opportunity to be a part of Lambda Literary's Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices this summer in LA, but I need your help! I am working on a YA novel about queer kids living in my Southern Indiana hometown. This kind of writing is especially important to me because of the effect queer stories can have on young queer kids. If I had read stories about trans teenagers when I was a teenager, I might have realized that I was trans much earlier. I want to tell stories that trans kids want to read.
Lambda Literary has generously granted me a partial scholarship for the Writers Retreat. I still need to raise $850, which covers the cost of my weeklong stay at the Retreat. Any extra money raised will be donated to Lambda Literary to advance their cause of preserving queer stories.
The Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices was established in 2007 and is the first of its kind ever offered to LGBTQ writers: a one-week intensive immersion in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, genre fiction and playwriting. The Retreat is an unparalleled opportunity to be mentored by the very best writers in our community, to develop one’s craft, make connections with publishing industry professionals and build a strong community of peers.
