Scholarships to Establish Educational Development (SEED) is a fund founded by University of Scranton staff, faculty and administrators who participated in the Bridges to El Salvador program. Funds raised go towards helping the children of Las Delicias complete their education.
Bridges to El Salvador was founded by Fr. Brendan Lally, S.J., to foster a greater commitment to peace and justice issues, and to inspire us to live our mission at the University more fully. The program, which was taken over by the University’s Jesuit Center, is an immersion experience in El Salvador for faculty, staff and administrators, and includes meeting with Universidad Centroamericana (UCA) personnel and professors, educators, religious, women and young activists, economists, political figures, environmentalists and business leaders.
Your support, in any amount, will make an impact in the lives of the children of Las Delicias.
A gift of $60 will supply school supplies, shoes, clothing, and, in some cases, medical attention to a student in Las Delicias for a full year.
A gift of $80 will provide 7th - 12th grade students from Las Delicias transportation to the UCA (Universidad Centroamericana) each Saturday. While only 4% of students make it to 9th grade, the students of Las Delicias have surpassed that because of programs such as this.
A gift of $250 will provide school supplies, clothing, and transportation to a high school student in Las Delicias for a full year.
