I am so very honored to have been selected by Special Olympics to be a member of the Final Leg Team, serving as Guardians of the Flame® as we run the “Flame of Hope” throughout the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in March, leading up to the start of the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Each state selects one law enforcement runner (California selects a Northern California and a Southern California runner) The rest of the team are law enforcement officers from other countries that have Torch Run programs.

Final Leg runners from around the world were selected to proudly represent their local Law Enforcement Torch Run and Special Olympics Programs.  The Final Leg Team will embark on different routes, running the Flame of Hope throughout cities and communities across the United Arab Emirates at various events, honoring the spirit of the Special Olympics global movement and delivering a message of hope to communities where people with intellectual disabilities continue to fight for acceptance and inclusion. As part of the Final Leg Team, we will safely deliver the “Flame of Hope” to the 2019 Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi Opening Ceremony on March 14th

As great an honor as this is, I won’t be able to cross the finish line without your help. Would you consider making a generous donation to help me realize the goal of representing the United States, California, and San Luis Obispo County as one of the members of the Final Leg Team to carry the “Flame of Hope” to the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Any contribution will help. It will send a message that you support the mission of Special Olympics and Law Enforcement. I’ve been involved with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics for more than 25 years. I know the dedication it takes for these athletes to compete. And I know the dedication of all my law enforcement friends to help make Special Olympics a big success. As one of 96 law enforcement officers worldwide who were chosen for this honor, I have dedicated myself to making sure I carry the “Flame of Hope” with dignity and respect. Will you help me do that?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Ian Parkinson
