Morgan County Partnership works to understand the issues facing our youth and families and to work together as a community to resolve those issues in order to provide our kids the support and skills they need to make smart decisions.
The Morgan County Partnership will use Unity Campaign funds to implement evidence-based programming in Morgan County Schools. The Partnership seeks support to provide Positive Actions, Too Good for Drugs, Too Good for Violence, and Standard, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) programs in Morgan County Schools.

Positive Action is a character-building program that seeks to promote academic performance, prosocial behaviors, and improvements in interpersonal relations. This program also provides skills-building activities to promote self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation towards healthy thoughts, feelings, and behaviors among students.

Too Good for Drugs is a social-learning based substance-use prevention curriculum that is intended for use with students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. This program teaches youth skills to promote healthy decision- making, goal-setting, pro-sociality, and methods for handling emotions and effective communication. The Too Good for Drugs program also provides education on the dangers associated with substance use.

The Partnership provides a school-based violence prevention program entitled Too Good for Violence as well. This program has been associated with improvements in students’ perception of safety, school climate, pro-sociality, resistance, and emotional competency skills.

Additionally, the Partnership seeks support to implement the SBIRT program in Morgan County Schools. SBIRT is an evidence-based program that provides early substance use and mental health screenings and follow-up therapy in sixth through twelfth grades in Morgan County Schools. Funding is needed to expand these services to the intermediate students in Morgan County Schools. Currently, there is not funding to provide these early intervention screenings to younger youth who are presenting concerning behaviors. Through SBIRT, students receive screenings and therapy services from a master’s level social worker who promotes improvement in psychosocial outcomes for youth in Morgan County.
